I have been on percocet for severe nerve pain. on 10mg three times a day. Its the only thing that takes off the edge. My insurance company notified me they were cutting it back to just a five day supply!! I will never function. They have no business doing the Doctors work. My Doctor is going to appeal. Here in the USA this has been going on rapidly! Do not know how it is with you? Sending Blessings to all! trishj46

Hi trishj46 I'm glad you're doctor is going to appeal. I live in Australia and the government just does whatever America does. We don't have an opioid crisis here we have a serious Ice you know Meth crisis.

I am in chronic pain after an accident in 2017. I have a lot of nerve pain also. I have a Bupranorphine patch that only just touches the sides and Lyrica for the nerve pain which isn't doing a lot. I can't have anything else, because my doctor will get into trouble. Its just crazy isn't it. Leaving people in pain just because of a few opiate abusers. I wish you all the best. Lola

I am sorry you are in pain also! All the drugs you mentioned I have tried

also. There is nothing that helps. I am trying some steroids compound with lidocaine.

I really don't think my Doctor will win. Its the people out on the street who are doing

the abusing! There has been so much suicide from sick, painful people who had their meds taken off them cold turkey! I wish you luck & peace!

If you have been on the drug for a long time you are likely to become addicted to them. There will be withdrawal symptoms if you come off them too quickly. The insurance company will know or should know about addiction problems of long term usage. You need to come off them slowly. You may have a legal remedy. Find a pro bono lawyer.

Johnsmith------These people could care less about my withdrawel or if

I just hung myself like so many others have done. God forgive me, but I wish they could go through what I go through for just 24 hours! We would soon have Doctors being allowed to do their jobs again and insurance companys, and government minding their own

business!! Than you for caring! trishj46

So sorry about your suffering. They are being very stupid about opioids here in the US, when there there is little else out there to treat severe chronic pain. Policy also differs from state to state. I can tell you that I am in Virginia and on Medicare and have been able to reduce high-dose oxycontin to an acceptable amount over a year with the help of a spine and pain clinic. I am approved for 10 mg at night and 2 5mg percocets a day on a monthly basis. I have very bad arthritic pain and widespread neuropathy, both peripheral and autonomic. For the first time over many years, I have responded to gabapentin and amitriptyline as adjuncts, and am also on prednisone and a muscle relaxant. I know that neuropathic pain is horrendous, though yours sounds especially bad. I wonder which state you are in and also also which insurance you have. I certainly hope your doctor's appeal works. You are on a relatively low dose. I was on a 120 mg 2x daily. Find I am having similar, though by no means perfect, control on current dose. All the best to you.

Thank you Joaclp. Yes it is a small dose because I did not want

ti go any higher, even though I need it. I live in PA and I am with Blue Cross insurance. My neuropathy is horrific, but have many

other things to deal with like spinal cord injury. I have tried the

drugs you are on, but I have a hard time with side effects.

I also have medicare. The dose you were on you would never

get here! I wish you the best and a pain free year ahead!

I have had chronic neuropathic pain for 47 years I have got a neuo spinal implant I take Meptid and Amitriptyline 100 mgms at night While Meptid is an opiate I have been on it for many years I have been offered morphine many times over the years I have never wanted to go there

I am never pain free but if it has the edge taken off I cope They are very reluctant to give people any night sedation in the UK contrary to some years ago

I find it difficult to comprehend that it is your medical insurance who are withdrawing your Meds rather than your Dr I know how debilitating and soul destroying chronic pain is. I hope your Dr is successful

Thanks for your post! You are very fortunate to get the meds you

are on. Where are you from?? Here in the states this is happening

every day. They want people off opiates. Even the pharmacies

can refuse to fill a script for these type meds! The Doctors hands are tied as they fear losing their license if they prescribe these meds. Some Doctors stand up to them and take the risk. Is the

neurospinal implant of much help? I also am never without pain and am now home bound. The nerve pain is from entrapped rectal nerve and not many Doctors know or deal with this. My friend had the surgery done in France 15 years ago and it was not successful. I also have neurogenic bladder and bowel, from spinal surgery. My Doctor is in the process now, but I don't have much hope! Hope you will be pain free in the New Year! Sending you prayers and Blessings! trishj46

Thanks for your reply. I have seen many Consultants from.many specialities over the years

My pain is as a consequence of a difficult Kielands forceps Delivery in 1971 There was a lot of tearing to my.perineum posterior vaginal wall the cervix and the lower uterine

Whilst I had a lot of repairs there are multiple scarring of all this area The pain is neuropathic I was left incontinent a

Bladder and bowel Bladder recovered but I had 75 CMS of my colon and attempted repair of the sphincter it was unsuccessful as the tissue is too thin I use Coloplast Peristeen system to irrigate my bowel daily which has dealt with the inconvenience

I had my neuro stimulator put in by a very skilled neurosurgeon 28 years ago After 4 days he moved it by I mm tiny tiny bit but he hit the spot That combined with my meds makes my life tolerable I was 29 when my son was worn He was 48 yesterday and I will be 77 in February I suffered badly with depression became anorexia had 8 ECT treatment and while people would say it is barbaric it did lift my depression at a time when I was suicidal

My experience of US is that my Brother has lived in California since 1976 I am in the UK My Nephew who is always ailing and he seems to.have very liberal.amounts of medication prescribed I am very surprised by this as most Drs in the UK are very careful about what is prescribed I attend a pain clinic and it is they who decide how best to manage my pain I was on Gabapentin for several years but came off it without any withdrawal some talk about I just stopped it and told my physician at my next consultation When I have been in hospital for other surgeries they tend to say let her manage her own Pain she has been doing it for years

I am so sorry that you are being subjected to so much pressure in an already impossible situation

Thinking of you x

I am so sorry for all you have been through and continue to go through! Life is a mystery!

I was a nurse for 23 years, and I am 72 now. Your letter sounds "youthful" not your age!!

I also have to self-cath and dis-impact bowel! Don't know how much longer I can do it!

My balance is poor with falls around the house, making things worse. I have been in and out of hospitals but decided no more. My GP comes to my home. I am pretty independent in my home but my family helps with things I can't do! I wish you the very best! It was good to talk to you! Take care & I will keep you in my prayers.

Blessings! trishj46

To all of you who responded to my post USA about my percocet. My Doctor had to appeal twice as it was denied. Now I have to sign an opiod agreement and give a urine for drug screening. I have never heard of this before! After doing this I can go back on Percocet! Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers! trishj46

I am very happy to know that you have had your meds again I have never heard of such a thing. Seems a bit extreme to me. I have a nephew who keeps getting himself admitted to hospital He seems to be getting liberal amounts of various opiods. Here they a lot of the time some patients will get their meds on a weekly basis

Never heard of anyone having to have their

Oops Never heard of anyone having their urine tested At our age given your situation it seems crazy Here your could be prescribed what your Dr thinks appropriate without another body being involved Is it your medical insurance people who dictate what can el can't be prescribed I feel for you as being like me have long term intractable pain

God bless and comfort you

My husband died aged 56 23 years ago so I lost my support and that makes it harder during periods that my pain flares as it does pretty regularly

Wish you the best ❤️
