Chronic Migraines

I have had migraines for around 6 years now, and got diagnosed with ‘chronic migraines’ in 2016.

I am on medication for them but sadly they do not work in preventing the migraines as they are there 24/7, from the moment I wake up.

I was wondering if there is any financial help I could get as I am unable to work due to the pain and severity of the migraines. They are extremely disabling.

In your previous post you said you were caring for your partner....if that is still the case you may be entitled to carers allowance.

You did also mention you were on benefits...not sure if that was both of you.

There is ESA the out of work benefit for chronically sick or disabled people plus PIP which you can claim whether working or not.

Check on the gov uk site. They will have all the info and how to apply

I am still a carer for my partner, and he gets esa and pip for himself. All I get is Carers allowance. But because of these migraines I struggle to care for him some days if they are really bad.

Then advice is to check on gov uk site...or ring number on one of partners letters. DWP can be helpful...sometimes.

You may lose your Carers Allowance or have it reduced though .

Hi

I suffered crippling migraines for five years before I found a medication that worked. It’s called Maxalt and is part of the triptan range. It was like a miracle to me as they take the migraine away within 15 mins
