Give me a break!!!

Having a really really rough time. 6 years ago I hurt my back at work rt side is affected

Severe low back pain popping in rt hip when walking runs down leg to foot. Incontinence daytime and nitetime incontinence of feces.

Been told by four urine docs it's nerve because of bowle and bladder nerve damage. Might be able to fix. But I have a high chance of never walking again. So I'm seeing I'm already back in diapers but have more to possibly lose like diapers and walking and diapers and unable to walk.

I'll keep the diapers and walking. But just ina matter of 1.5 years I've been diagnosed with disk degeneration, diabetes, heart disease, systolic and diastalic heart failure

No shfinkter or tone in my bowle it packed it's bags and left me fistula seveare sleep apnea and just when I thought it could not get worse now hypothyroidism and I'm only 43. Trying to keep my head up but daaam give me a break here. Any advise would be great thanks guys.

I am only 43 too and have nerve damage from a accident which means I have no bowel or bladder control whatsoever. I can walk but that means I have to manage my diapers full time. how unlucky.

Not sure what to suggest other than taking your mri to another neurosurgeon for a second opinion.

Dear Shawnparsons42,

It's difficult for me to comment, specifically on your particular 'case', however maybe, just maybe, another Doctor/Consultant might have different ideas? I gather that you are in America and, I confess, I know little, or nothing, about Medical Care in your country. Where the Hospitals/ Medical 'Expertise' (Centers of Excellence) are located.

I'm sorry, to hear, about your Incontinence Shawn it must be awful, for you. Again, apart from suggesting 'a Second Medical Opinion', it's difficult to advise you further.

Please do stay 'in touch', with us Shawn I know that we all wish you well.

Kindest wishes

Hey Shawn!

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. Yes, definitely see a specialist - maybe at a university hospital or specialty clinic - near you and keep fighting! If you are in the US and have insurance besides worker's comp, you may want to go that route (if you haven't yet) at a certain point - I had to.

Have you had a back MRI? Have you seen an orthopedist about your back and hip? Have you tried physical therapy? Ask the doctors and physical therapists to look for out of the box things. Whenever you meet new medical professionals be sure to include key info like how your injury happened, the popping, pain down the leg, any falls or traumas (car accident, etc) of note that you've had... before and after that work incident... it all can play into your current problems. Keep track of what makes your back pain, hip popping, etc worse and better.

I've had chronic back pain for over a decade and hip issues for several years - much worse the last few years after a car accident. But the last couple of years with new diagnoses, injections, a surgery and tons of PT, I've come a long long way. And I'm a few years younger than you. So keep fighting and trying - and know you're not alone!

I hear you. Back problem something like yours. Dunno if it's better or worse, but I have enormous trouble relaxing bits enough to pee. I spend 1/4-1/3 of my life in the bathroom, trying to pee. :/ I chose to keep walking instead of another surgery too.

Chronic illness, particularly chronic pain, seems to attract other illnesses. :/ IBS, migraines, food intolerances, allergies (I must have a portal to the snot dimension in my sinuses - it's non-stop!), and just been diagnosed with hypermobility (genetic), as my shoulder and hip keep subluxing/dislocating. :/ Fibro too. Oh, and liver damage. And mental health crap. Whee. I'm 43 too.

The only thing I can say is that, although we are our bodies, we're also something more. When my body is grumpy, or I'm just tired of living this life, I listen to music, pet the cat, look at a tree, or snuggle someone I love. I wish my body didn't think I'm 90 years old, but it's not all I am. You too. <3
