I am a 30 year old female. For 10 + years, every time I run, I get a side stitch within a few minutes and it’s so bad I can’t continue running. This even happens when walking sometimes, biking, skating, using elliptical, etc. It’s usually on the right side under the ribs, but sometimes other spots in my abdomen. The usual remedies for side stitches (pitching it, breathing exercises, not eating before running) don’t make a difference because it is so severe. It has gradually gotten worse over the years. The more I run, the more it is exacerbated. I no longer do cardio at all.
The doctor sent me for lab tests, barium enema, physio consult, respiratory consult, GI consult. But I still have no answers.
I recently heard of slipping rib syndrome and I wonder if that is the problem but it could be anything.
Does anyone have insight on what I could do to get this diagnosed and treated?
