I am waiting to have radio-frequency ablation of the right suprascapular nerve in day surgery.. I have an inoperable massive irrepairable tear of the rotator cuff. Has anyone had this done. Does it help the pain.

I had RFA in 2015 after having lumbar pain for 11 years. It didn't help immediately but I began to feel better within a month or so after the procedure. The pain did end up coming back, although, it didn't go away completely. I did feel maybe 30% better for about 3 months then it came back...full force. Everyone is different so you never know but I won't be doing it again, that's for sure. I'm currently awaiting surgery because we've tried everything. I have come to understand that I will never be 100% again. I'm so tired of the pills & injections, this & that. It's ridiculous. 8mg Tizanidine every 8hrs, 750mg methocarbomal every 6hrs, 7.5mg meloxicam every 12hrs and 10mg oxycodone every 6hrs, physical therapy 3x daily AND I STILL FEEL LIKE CRAP! Hopefully, it works for you.

Thanks for that.I am on waiting list for it to be done at moment. I have had cortisone injections in both shoulders because I also have a tear in the left one. They didnt last long. I am allergic to codeine or anything like that and I cant take Ibuprofen because I am on anticoagulants and I suffer with GERD. I am in constant pain so I really do understand how you feel. When it is 24 hours a day it starts to drive you mad. I can only take paracetemol. I also suffer with Atrial Fib so there are lots of meds that are bad for me and dont mix with my heart meds. My Consultant can repair the small tear in my left arm but then I wouldnt be able to manage with arm in a sling for 6 weeks because I cant even lift a kettle with my right hand now and I am right handed so I would be "armless" for 6 weeks. I live on my own so I wouldnt be able to cope.

I have GERD too so I'm on meloxicam instead of IB. I don't think these doctors fully understand the amount of pain we are in. I really hope the RFA works out for you. Best Wishes.

Thanks. I agree they dont understand. I take Gaviscon Advance or Peptac and Omerprazole 20mg twice a day.
