Hi Duloxitne a found out of all the drugs a was prescribed a could tolerate only 30mg when on 60 was hallucinating unfortunelty I am the unlucky one that gets all the severe side effects off the drugs I was prescribed and gained over 3 stone in weight I now cook from scratch have a high protein diet exercise daily and feel much better than I have in a long time still in pain thou but am not zombied off all the drugs a was taking 20 + daily 1 drug then that drug against another n so on so on not good.
I take it for chronic pain. My consultant says it's an antidepressant but also works on the pain pathways in the brain. So far no side effects with it. Pain has improved since I have started on it about 3 months now but also had nerve block injection at same time I started it so not sure if it's been one or both of them.
Unfortunately everyone is different. What helps one person does not help another and what agrees with one person does not agree with others. Just a case of trial and error i think.
Hi, I take 120mg duloxetine. I too experience side effects like sleep pattern disturbance & excess sweating. However it really helps with my chronic pain.
I think its a case of persevering through the initial side effects to see whether the drug is helpful or not (approx 1-3 months) and weigh up its usefulness to you overall. I know that sounds awful - living like a zombie for a few months is tough on work/family stuff. but is it worth it if it helps with your pain?
some side effects reduce overtime & sleep pattern disturbance is also a did effect of being in pain! Could the sleep pattern you had be linked to another cause? Stress, pain, caffeine etc. Once in a switched around pattern its hard to readjust to normal.
Best wishes. I hope you find something effective & side-effect less!
I also take 120mg of duloxetine, but I take it just before bedtime & am prescribed it for the antidepressant side of the drug.
I haven't noticed any side effects to speak of, although I have the constitution of an ox - I can take anything and not get too much of a reaction!
I've been on this dose for years and, with some effort, even managed to lose approx 3.5 stone in weight. As someone else has said, tho, these things affect us all differently.
I too was just prescribed this drug by the Pain Clinic for anxiety due to my extreme nerve pain, I have not picked it up yet because after reading the side effects etc. I really don't think I want to add this to the problems I'm already experiencing.
I'm on 60mg I was on 80mg originally the side effect I experienced was I couldn't urinate the dose was lowered to 60mg the bladder problems improved but it's not doing the pains I have any good.Pain clinic in four weeks so I imagine I'll be taken off them. Best of luck to you.
In U.S. it's Cymbalta. Has a black box warning due to some pretty scary severe side effects. I have resisted going on it, had enough misery from gabapentin and various tricyclic antidepressants. Seems anything that's not a narcotic is being used on us guinea pigs, and we get to pay for the honor!
