Have suffered with muscle and joint pain for about 7yrs. This has been getting increasingly worse, but have not had any luck with a diagnosis from anyone so far. Have been told it could be something similar to Fibromyalgia, but was told that it probably is not that. Have seen a physio who said that I should be doing more exercise and improve my posture, but this is making me much worse. Not sure what is the best next step, as has left everyone I know totally miffed.

I know how you feel it really stinks that no one is listening to you. I was told that I was having women problems but I knew it wasn’t. I went into the doctors appointment with my readers digest medical book and said I either had lime disease or MS and I was told “Don’t jump to collusions” believe you me I didn’t want either of them and I said how do I find out what I have. I went to have an MRI. From that doctor who was an neurologist and then given a spinal tap. Then I was diagnosed with MS. I then got rid of my primary care doctor because he had no idea what was going on yes I understand that MS is hard to diagnose but he didn’t listen to me

I want to say one thing and that is “ be your own advocate if you know somethings wrong find someone that will listen to you”

You may not even have MS I hope you don’t but you need to find out what’s going on with your body.

Good luck to you!

Cheers for the reply. Am going to give acupuncture and reflexology a try. Have heard some good things about them being able to diagnose the cause.

A well trained reflexologist will not diagnose, but they are good at helping patients deal with symptoms. Likewise with acupuncture, they can treat an illness or a disease, but they can't diagnose it.

So while I would happily recommend you trying both of them to see if they relieve your symptoms, I wouldn't recommend going to them for a diagnosis.

Have you seem a rheumatologist? Or anyone from Genetics? Any musculoskeletal issues in your family?

in reply tojpain

Have seen a rheumatologist, but seemed to have less of a clue than I did. He was literally asking me to self diagnose and lump it. My family has no history of anything like this.

Presume you've had blood tests to check for any inflammatory markers?

Not what you're looking for?
