You don't give your gender so please don't be offended by any remarks.
Some people do have great difficulty with keeping the patch on.
Make sure there is no hair at the site. Don't shave the area. Clean it thoroughly with mild soap- not alcohol. Use zinc oxide ( sports tape) to seal the edges if necessary.
People find shoulder or chest or thigh are best places.
Back is not good because you can lose sight of it.
Hope that is of some help.
I am a female. And i have only gotten to my second patch. The first went really well, then the day i put on 2nd patch i was asked to remove it during an MRI exam. Afterwards it wld not stick at all and i had to buy waterproof bandaids to keep it on. Im not sure if it is still effective or not. After 12 hr shift yesterday i was drenched in sweat and had to remove patch, shower, dry, then put back on. The patch itself was completely wet. But i covered w bandaid and well im curious if it still has medicine left in it??
They only stick once full stop, unless you put some tape all around the edges, I think the hospital should have given you a replacement. If you can get off them all the better really, they are a god send but.
I have no experience with this particular patch and it may have less adhesive on it than other patches. But when I wore an estrogen patch I wore it on my stomach. So you might try a different place other than your back which does tend to be more sweaty.
If you have to take it off for any reason put on a new one.
Micropore tape is excellent and comes in different widths.

But i only have a 28 day supply and they last 7 days, so if i put on a new one i will run out early right? I dont wanna end w being in pain or withdrawl
Hi, I'm on patches 35 mg, your right if one doesn't stick your in trouble, what I did to stop myself from running out of them, I order every month but then I order some in say three weeks Tim and eventually I built a little stock because I had 1 patch and I put it on after a shower and tried to make a dry spot on my belly and had to go with out and I don't know how druggies go on when they need a fix lol, but think before you get hooked on them, could you cope without because once your on them ya stuck on them, they are really good for pain but do you really need them? They are horrendously difficult to find a way back to sanity.
Just a thought your skin needs to be very very dry.
Philip.
I have been using patches on and off for a few years now. Ive been up to 40mg but I'm on 3 x10's purely because of the issue of them coming unstuck. As someone said before you can't re stick them.
You will notice that if the patches aren't sticking correctly you can feel the centre of the patch lifting off the contact area.... so it can't be working.
The drug they emmit is so slight a couple of dyhydrocodine and tramadol I feel have a more immediate effect.
My thoughts on them are they must sort of work but all the fuss about it being a controlled drug etc is unfounded.
when i pick up my bupremorphine patches I'm often treated like I'm on a methadone replacement programme at my local pharmacy.
I remember when I first went on them I was warned about the dangers of anybody even touching the used patch could be dangerous.
A mate of mine who works at a local hospital he told me if druggies chewing the old patches for highs.
When I've been at a very low desperate point with the pain ive tried chewing the old sweaty patches.... eragh....
Not a bloody thing... waste of time.
Even trying to get extra patches when one has dropped off or got too wet in the shower etc... I'm treated like I'm trying to get an extra fix....
Ive even offered one to my local pharmacist so he can realise that there are no highs associated with the patches.
But I see people picking up their monthly hundreds of tramadol and dyhydrocodine etc..... and their treated like they are 'just' pain killers.
The patches do work for me. They certainly don't take the pain away and at times I'd swear the patches that week are placebo.
But I feel better than all the years I was on Tramadol etc. ..
They are really mind numbing drugs.... if you ever have to make any serious decisions while on Tramadol etc make sure you run your ideas by someone else first.... beware.
I have been using these patches for almost 6 months and find them good at helping with pain. I'm on 35mcg ones. If a patch ever falls off I just ring my doctors surgery to inform them about it. They put a note on my records which enables me to order early without question. I use them on my upper belly, once a patch falls off you must replace it with a new one. Took my a while to get the hang of them and them working properly. Feel free to contact me for any further advice xx
High, I stick them on my thighs and have done for a number of years. At first I had problems getting them to stick so used micro pore tap to keep them down. The best way to keep them stuck is to put them on, clean, very dry, skin. No lotions, potions or anything oil based. That lifts them off. Good luck.
Hi there I am on these patches the problem I have is the patch sticks on for the week but gets wet when I shower, the middle part of the patch isn’t stuck down only the edges, so I cannot see how I am getting the full strength because it’s not adhering to my skin at all only the outer edge is stuck to my skin, I have to dodge about in the shower trying not to get this darned thing wet x
