My lower back has been hurting really bad and pain shoots down to my legs and my hips hurt it mostly the left side. I had a MRI on my head and it came back normal but I know something is wrong. Any ideas of what it might be?

Hermes123. Hi there your problem could be muscular? I had similar from time time when the back and shoulder muscle's go very tight and causes a lot of pain, have a word with your G.P. and ask to be refereed to a physiotherapist. that's my advice for what its worth, good luck.

This really sounds like it has something to do with your nerves. And have you ever tried a drug called amitriptyline? I suggest you try this. I really believe you will notice a difference. Don't be mistaken by this drug. It once was a antidepressant in the 40s but patients noticed it helped more for pain and to help people sleep . I have post herpetic neuralgia. And fibromyalgia. I am in constant pain. I take this for the nerve pain at first it will make you sleepy. But you will feel relaxed and pain free. So please try this at home first . After awhile you will get used to it and you will be able to take it whenever you need it . I hope this helps! But there should be no reason the doctor would not give it a try! Best of luck

MRI normal so nothing major showing at this point. See an optician. The MRI scan would not have checked for vision problems. Vision is involved in balance. So faulty eye coordination or eye problems can in some circumstances effect balance. If the blood pressure is to low than their can be loss of blood to the brain and you can experience standing up problems.

The head may be slightly tilted. This could cause pressure on nerve roots in the back resulting in various pains going into the legs and hip.

All of the above may or may not be true. This is chiropractor, optician and Alexander Teacher territory. Only you can investigate the truth of the above and see if the chiropractor, optician and Alexander Teacher can provide means for you to remedy the problem.

Hope I have been able to be helpful.
