Hi Everyone. In the last 12 months, I have had patellofemoral knee replacement on both of my knees and also hip surgery First one keen done, three months later the hip surgery and three months after that the second knee done. Apparently i've wrecked my body from being a gymnast in the 80's plus query hypermobility syndrome?? I'm 47 and used to be active hill walking, cycling, the gym and running. Now i am in agony , I also have L4/L5 Degenerative disc disease and arthritis at the top of my spine. My knees are still so painful, the hip did at least get fixed and is now pain free. I just wan to feel active again and not in pain all day every day, can't sit for too long can't stand for too long, I can manage to walk for just about 1 mile before the pain get unbearable. I take co-codamol daily or dihydrocodiene and pregablin, have done for over 2 years, I have also tried amitryptilene, tramadol, Gabapentin. I am trying to stay active everyday so I don't seize up. I have put on one stone in weight in the last 12 months, although I'm not overweight , I am getting there, my BMI is now 24.2. Has anyone else suffered like this and got over it. If so how long does it go on??

Hi. You had a huge amount of trauma to your body in a short time relatively speaking. I would say. It doesn't sound as if there was much time between surgeries for you to build,d up strength and muscle tone before you were immobilised again.

What does your surgeon say ?

Pretty much that three major surgeries 12 weeks between each and with other ongoing problems it will take time. I'm just really fed up with it I guess. If it was just getting over the surgery I think I would be OK but it is the added back problem that is the issue really, can see no light with this.
