Well had X-ray on right hip yesterday just waiting on results😭I have my first appointment at the pain clinic next weds does anyone know what it involves?? As I'm a little concerned about going as heard horror stories 😩X

From personal experience the Pain Clinic is run by dedicated staff who always go that extra for their patients. Had a wonderful Consultant in fact all 3 have been wonderful from Yorkshire and then Scotland.

You will probably be seen initially by the pain Nurse. She will go through your symptoms and cnditions and to what meds you have been on. Whether they have worked or not. Sometimes if he isn't too busy you may get top man himself.

Go with a friend or family member if at all possible and most of important - go with an open mind. Listen and remember there is no cure for chronic pain and although they can work miracles, the impossible takes a little longer.

They have a team comprising physio, psychiatrist and often a Nurse who will do accupunture.

You may be offered a course on pain management which can be extremely helpful.

Hope this gives you some idea. Oh yes...they aren't known as 'the last chance saloon' for nothing!

I've just completed a 7 week course at the pain management clinic previous I had 4 1:1 sessions b4 been asked to go to a group.

Single 1:1 sessions talk about what makes ur pain bad- how u can use different strategies to eliviate the pain- basically it's self help & mindfulness .

There teach u about micro breaks, how not to end up in the red pain system, it's ok if u have general pain or pain that can be treated,

I loved the company met some wonderful ladies & gents,nice to get out after been stuck in house for 2yr but they didn't teach me anything in didn't already know,..

Bec of my house boundNess not going far in 2yr iam going back to see a Dr at pain clinic to chat abut restoring confidence-

I have to live with my problems from an accident 2yr ago this is the best they can get me!

Some found it worked for them.u don't know unless u try.
