did you have an accident or twist it. It could be a muscle spasm, a nerve or a disc. read up on it on google. What type of pain is it, sharp, dull, stabbing etc ? Hope this puts you in the right direction.
Two days is not long. Likely you have slept award ly or been sitting with your neck twisted. Heat pads are comforting and gentle stretching movement will help to keep it from seizing up altogether. See a physio or chiropractor if it persists or keeps happening.

Diazepam , you need a relaxant of some kind, and plenty of warmth around it.
Thank you everyone I've Still got it and I can't stop shaking
Did you sleep in a funny position or change your pillow(s) recently? Old wives tales but, did you sit near a draught? Is the pain travelling down your neck into your shoulder and arm and if so, does it go all the way into your fingers?
Two days is not a long time but it can still make life extremely uncomfortable and painful. I had something similar and found that a trip to the Spa and a massage, was the cure I needed. Confirming to my mum that I had 'cold in my neck' - whatever that is.
If after trying a heat rub, changing your pillows etc, it still persists, you should go to your GP for some help. It could be a trapped nerve.
Try a hot water bottle with a cover of course - when my back kicks off I turn to old faithful and it does work. Hope you get relief soon😘😘😘😘
See a doctor. Neck pain can be symptomatic of some diseases.
Chiropractor can be useful if neck has been pulled out of alignment by muscle spasm.
From description given it is impossible to tell what the problem is.
Try a wheatie bag twenty minutes about 2 or 3 times a day.
Wheatie bags are available usually from Wilkos and other outlets or online and you put them in the microwave for up to 3 minutes ( no more) then put them round your neck over a towel so you don't burn your skin. They usually last for approx 20 minutes before the heat disappears . Works for me. If you haven't got a microwave, you can put them in the oven but I do not know for how long.
