Hi everyone

I've posted a few time about my spinal problem, lower back, and would like to know if any people out there with spinal problems get pain in there neck which affects the back of the  head, and cause really bad pain in the eyes, they feel like they are going to pop out it also causes sickness. After a day or two of this I am really drained

If this is a new pain and you know of no reason for its cause, I would say that you should be seeing your gp and asking for some physio at the least.  But you need to make sure it isn't an infection first.

sounds like you might need to see a neurosurgeon - they are the ones who usually deal with spinal problems that cause that kind of thing.  There are quite a lot of different things that can happen to necks - stenosis (narrowing of the canal, and compressing the spinal cord), atlanto-axial subluxation (where your skull kind of slips slightly off the top vertebra), arnold chiari malformation etc, but a neurosurgeon would be able to assess all of that.   First step is to have a talk with your GP and make sure they understand how bad it is, and get their advice on whether a specialist consultation would be useful.

Hi

I have had similar problems with ongoing chronic pain and the effects you describe since 2008 and they prove very debilitating and difficult to overcome or deal with.

You may have some undiagnosed problems connected with your upper neck and spine that are causing your problems with your occipital nerves and area at the back of your head.

Try avoiding holding your head in any static position or reading etc for any length of time that may cause you tension, together with a little gentle massage to your neck and shoulders.

If you experience any sharp/hot striking pain from the back to the front of your head ie neuralgia. It may also help if you try relaxing and deep breathing when lying flat on your back with a little raised support under only the back of your neck.

Hope this helps

When it comes on I cannot lie down , I have to stand in the best position I can for relief. I can stand hours against a wall not daring to move. The last bout I had I was really worried because of the pain in my eyes, which was the worst it as ever been. when it does go off I can feel drained for days. The only thing that does help a little is a support collar and heat pads and as mentioned trying to relax.
