What do you mean by hire? Is it the same as rent?

I don't think you could hire a stairlift - they need to be properly installed with a permanently mounted rail for the stairlift to go up on. If you need a temporary solution you could get something like the stair wheelchairs they use to take people up aeroplane steps, though be aware that it takes two people to safely lift someone in one of those (and only then if they aren't too heavy). If you think you need a stairlift, ask the social services folk at your council office about it - it comes under "home adaptations for people with disability" and they may be able to help.

As Earthwitch says hiring stair lifts is nnot an option

However if someone is unable to get upstairs OT can look at using a room downstairs. Certainly contact your OT and they can advise.

Hi u need to try and get a bungalow if u cannot use the stairs any more get in touch with the OT team they my be able to help u they did with me in the end.

Best wishes to u

If you're on disability there is a Grant if you qualify 👌

You should try for disability, it's pip now though! Can be a battle but if you're entitled to it no harm in trying 😀

Spoon39 I think it is disgusting you have to pay for a trolley what are we coming to .I have a lease hold flat ex council flat I tried to ask the council for some help in having a dropped curb and my garden dug up to let me bring my car on as I am on sticks and crutches I cannot carry shopping etc told me to ring ot they did send me a form and apparently you have to be in a wheel chair so do they expect the fairys to do it .I pay council tax and income tax on a small pension so I get just over the amount as do a lot of other people no wonder people stop on the dole etc it's not worth saving for your old age .Good luck and love to all other people in pain x. Try Community Services. They mmay help if you are disabled or pensioner.

Don't ever wish you were on the 'dole'.

I bet there are builders taking them out of houses everyday and just skipping them. Nothing is recycled apart from as scrap metal but maybe look up second hand stair lift on eBay and get your housing assosiation or a maintenance man to fit it.

Just an idea?
