Best to u.
What dose of Amitriptyline did he put you on?
It could be a number of causes. Sciatica, discs in your spine or even referred pain.
Did he have any suggestions or refer you for scans?

Furosemide, 40 mg. bisoprolol, 5mg. candesartan, 32 mg. symvastatin, 40mg. asprin, 75mg. sukkarto,500mg zap ain at least four a day plus Tramadol when needed. +voltrol gel on certain areas of pain. I also have psoriasis on scalp elbows.
Sounds very like " meralgia paresthetica" ?
Check it out and see if you agree.
I agree you have to see the doctor, but would think you would need some tests just to illiminate certain causes and maybe find a diagnosis. Hopefully get a suitable treatment. I have pain in my right leg but it is down the inside they say it is the knee causing it. Given an injection which made matters worse. Take care.
I am on 60mg of Amitriptyline. It does nothing for the pain. I use it as a sleeping pill but want to get off it. I was told to gradually reduce dosage and now down to 50 mg
As mentioned before regarding my leg pain. I have had a pain like a shooting electric shock go from my lower back down to my knee . Left side. I know I have osteoarthritis in this knee but the pains were excruciating. Just started to get mobile again today. This happened last Friday evening. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!
It sounds like you could have a trapped nerve. Years ago I had one and was recommended to a wonderful physio who actually treated me and not just gave me exercises. Within a few visits the pain had completely gone. Please do not go to a chiropractor! My experience with one was disastrous!
