Nerve block!: Hi,got spinal nerve block wed,has... - Pain Concern
Nerve block!
Mine was agony for a wee while and then it settled and made things a lot more manageable for a few months. I hope you get many months pain free!
Hi Carol I'm glad your nerve block is over and done with. My experience with the many I have had is much the same, for a good 10-14 days there is an awful, deep, dull ache that was quite unlike any other pain I had ever had. My G.P told me,when you have chronic pain any new pain is instantly more noticeable. The good news is, this pain will subside and any improvement will become evident. I hope you get the outcome you need. Every back is different and every block behaves differently, it didn't work for me, but for my husband it was very effective.
Hi Carol, I've had many over the years and I'm now convinced that the skill of the doc is paramount. My last ones were really easy. The worst time was when I had bilateral facet injections. I had bruising and my back was terrible for a month. Which kind did you have? Were you awake for them? Hope you recover quickly. 😜
I had a nerve block on fri 26th june was in hospital till 2nd july home on lots of meds still including morphine but I had that thing where you couldn't wee. Feel alot better now just aching hoping to start driving again nxt wk.so I think it just takes time x
I can fully understand your pain, I had a nerve block 2weeks ago , I can only say I have been through so much pain in my life, never again
Do ask a friend or relative to look at your back to check for any redness or swelling (a bit of bruising is normal) or heat in the area of the injection just in case you have an infection.
Not sure which hospital you go to but I have had many spine blocks over the years and I have never had any problems mine are done in day surgery under live x-ray. I have noticed my right foot has pins and needles this could be constant use of the spine blocks
The anaesthetic part of the injection wears off after a couple of days, then I often get a steroid "flare" for a day or so, so probably by day 3 or 4 things would be starting to come right.
