Hi,

I've heard on the news that Atos are having trouble keeping up with the backlog of claims etc and Maximus are taking over next year.

What does that mean to us ?

Will it just be them doing the same as Atos or doors it mean anything else ?

Hello Georhy

The DWP contract with Atos will end in March. Maximus are then taking over.

They will be doing exactly what Atos are doing now as it is the DWP who write the programme for us.

Maximus are trying to recruit more staff to cut the backlog.

Without meaning to scare anyone - Maximus are an Americal giant in providing healthcare and insurance. They have the worst record from all these corporations.

It's a disgraceful for profit American company.

The gov don't care about sick and disable people you just have to look at how many people have died because atos made them fit or work terminal cancer MS Parkinson's 10,600 people died with six weeks of assessment .

A man in a coma was seen as fit for work

A women with double heart and lung transplant died in her hospital bed after her WCA was going to be stopped.

It's a massive black hole that's only going to get bigger

I don't think that is quite true. The government has to rely on agencies to do the work. The agencies have to weed out the con men and women who want the disability benefits. These con men and women are what are causing the difficulty.

There is a problem in communication. There is a problem in not enough people to the work in benefits and those that do work in benefits do not have time to do all the things that are required to be done.

This government have inherited the mess from the last government.

I have had my ear bent several times by tax players who do not want to pay their cash to people with disabilities.

If the tax players think more facilities should be made available to people with disabilities and are prepared to pay more tax to do this then there will be a change. Until this happens we have to look at surviving on benefits as a job of work in itself.

We need the government to think in terms of providing and funding education to survive on benefits and still maintain a reasonable quality of life. It took me several years to learn all I needed to know to survive on benefits.

As a severely disabled person who has worked all my life until retirement I had not realised that I was not a Tax Payer. Even in retirement I still pay tax on all I buy at the shops. My electric and gas and a dozen other taxes to.

Inherited problems wore thin after 3 yrs too.

Every party will blame the other one for the mess the stats don't lie more people will die when a new gov is in power the nhs education transport are all lacking in funding profit is always the key

If this gov wanted to do something they would stop atos when they came into power back in 2010 they did nothing and people died because of it

Ah this worries me I'm still waiting on my claim it hasn't been that long compared to the time period they said it could take 26 weeks, its been about 9 weeks. I'm new to this and my pain is extremely debilitating but I won't solely be relying on benefits my aim is to become a qualified counsellor part time and help young people with mental health and pain issues. I just hope that I can receive some support, this process definitely scares me as I'm only 21 and my physical state is unpredictable and at times I can have no mobility at all. I just feel like they are looking for black and white disability criteria yet they don't consider the grey areas. A lot of their questions on the PIP form in my case varies depending on how intense my pain is at the time. I just hope I don't get turned down as I will be unable to work full time and I've received a lot of crap from previous employment because of my disability. v.v
