Hi Walter, sorry you are struggling. Have you seen a doctor to find out the cause.? If not I would make an appt tomorrow. The onvious cause sounds like sciatica but it could be one of many things.Whilst waiting to see doctor try painkillers and maybe a hot water.I find heat verh helpful for some pains.Let us know hoe you go on

Sounds to me that what you describe is Sciatica can come on because you have been sitting on something hard or you carry items in you back pockets. I used to suffer with the same thing and it used to kill my legs and I could not walk my legs just went dead very frightening if your a long way from home like I was I used to be an HGV driver and because I lost the use of my legs I lost my HGV licence and my job which I really enjoyed. The sciatica was caused by my back problems I am now retired and I have Five discs gone in my lower back and have Osteoarthritis in my hips back and wrists it's slowly taking over as I have problems with elbows now to, But that's to much about mew I hope that you get it sorted quickly I know what it's like if people can't see it they don't believe it so go see your doctor and don't be fobbed of GOOD LUCK and take care

I went to my GP with the same symptoms in October. I was initially told it was due to a fall and I had pulled some ligaments, then told it was referred pain from my knee. I went to see a knee surgeon, as I was now struggling to walk at all, and he took x-rays of my whole leg. I had no additional joint loss of mobility that I could detect, only the severe pain in my buttock and thigh, and some discomfort in my groin.

I am having my hip replaced in August!

Hello

Sounds like Sciatica, discuss with GP, There are many medications to take, if it lasts to long they may arrange a hospital appointment and steroid injection to suppress the pain

if you want self help stuff first, then heat, or ice, or both alternating ( maximum 15 minutes of each at a time so you don't burn the skin). If you think you have injured something, then something like voltorol gel might help too. Failing that, go see your GP and see what they say.

Hi Walter. It's very important to get checked out by a doctor , even though it may be sciatica which is a nerve being pinched in your spine. Meanwhile, while waiting to see the doctor try using a hot water bottle on it while you are sitting down. The heat of the hot water relieves the pain in your backside. Also avoid getting chilled or sitting on anything cold. Hope you are better soon.
