It does state that it is a side effect but it is now beginning to get me down. I have had a few of times when I am really trying to catch my breath its scary. Will the breathlessness calm down the longer I take Gabapentin? Or am I better off contacting pain clinic and switch to something else.

Hello

Yes this is a contraindication, so you need to discuss how you are getting on with your medications, There are still many to try

Breathlessness isn't something to just ignore - do see your doctor and check that it is OK to keep taking this med.

go to your doctor as soon as you can and let him know how they are affecting you do not just put up with it, I took them for close to 3 months and ended up in bed for all that time they made my condition worse not better my docter moved me onto Pregabalin which has the same main part of these drugs and the side affects stopped.

good luck with your treatment.

Agrees with poppy I had to move to pregablin from gabapentin as I had has side effects with gabapentin. Contact your pain clinic or gp and discuss it with them.

The side effects coming off gabapentin after it failed were severe even though I tapered off slowly. It took weeks for me to feel normal again.

Thank you all for your replies. I went to GP today and I have to come off Gabapentin straight away as I have a very wheezy chest. Got to ween myself off quickly so will have to put up with withdrawal symptoms. Not looking forward to withdrawal but its better than not being able to catch my breath. She also going to contact pain clinic.

Thank you again
