Recovery time for minor(!) foot operation?

Anyone had any if these? I'd like advice on recovery time. I'm having a saddlebone deformity removed and plantar fasciitis injections in right foot, and metalwork removed from big toe from previous op on left foot. Any idea when I'll be able to walk again? As I can't use crutches.

Thanks

Hello

You will need physio after the operation, and possibly if you cannot use crutches a walking frame may give possible movement, I use walking sticks and walking frame with seat upon it.

Your operation on the foot is actually a complicated bone surgery, if I may call it that. You should be getting there depended on age between about six weeks upwards, your Consultant will keep you right.

All the best

6 weeks! No surgeon said I wouldn't be able to drive for a week or two! Surely not 6 weeks??

In my experience surgeons tend to sugar the pill....then let the patient face a longer recovery etc once the op is done. surgeons see so much variations in rates of recovery

So I tend use the 3s rule:

Most recovery proceeds in 3 weekly & 3 monthly increments

If your recovery is extra fast, maybe in 3 weeks you'll be more active, but in 3 months you're more likely to feel something like recovered

Thanks. It's hard to organise my life, and work when I don't know how long I'll be out of action! Just have to wait & see I guess. I've booked two weeks working from home, they can become weeks of sick if need be.

I had ligament surgery on my second toe last year. I was told no weight bearing for two weeks. Horizontal rest for 23/24 hours for those weeks!! No driving for six weeks (you won't be able to do an emergency stop). Anyway, it worked and I have full mobility back. I reckon it took at least six months before it felt better!

Feet are complicated. Take the advice seriously so you get a good result. Best wishes :)

Well I've booked two weeks after to work from home, and I suppose I'll see how I go after that!
