Hi there, I had capel tunnel problems on both hands, I rather stupidly put up with it for quite some time before I got medical attention, I got some splints from ebay, but the effect was limited, the only cure is surgery, and magically the pain dissapears straight away, I was back at work 10 days later on both occasions, but I suppose the time involved would depend on the type of work involved.
thank you both for your answers
A number of pharmacies stock a variety of splints and would be able to advise as to the best type and size. There is a good range made by Oppo, but they do some which immobilise the thumb and some which don't, and which is best depends on the site of your pain, which is why discussion is best.

Splints help when the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is sleeping with bent wrists or overuse of the wrists. If you have any underlying condition, such as arthritis, injury or anatomical abnormality of the wrist, the effect of the splint may be limited as mentioned above.
I wore these splint like things you buy in the chemist's for a long time and it is costly as they get wet and smelly very quickly, but I am not wearing one now as the lump has went down, but still very sore if I bend wrist or use much pressure on my fingers like typing to long, also I'm waiting for surgery or whatever they decide is best. sadly and ironically, as I type this, it "the pain" starts again, so yes you can get splints,£15 a time each hand, (not on NHS' you have to pay but it is worth it as it helped me, best of luck
Hi thanks for your response I have purchased one for each wrist and wear them at night I don't see the consultant til the end of November so I will wear them til I see him and hope they help
