Changed meds to include Ketamine but getting less relief now than before.

Just over a month ago my Pain consultant changed my medication to include Ketamine alog with my Morphine, with the hope that I would be able to reduce the Morphine and eventually discard it alltogether.

I started on 0.1ml (10mg) 3 times a day but he also advised to reduce the Morphine a little, but within a couple of days the pain I was in was unbearable.

After 10 days I called the pain Dr and asked for advise, he increased the dose to 0.2ml (20mg) upto 4 times a day.

Since then I have increased the Morphine again and I'm now taking more than I was before starting the Ketamine and still i'm getting very little relief.

That was 20 days ago, should I phone and see if I should increase the Ketamine again, or should I just give it up?

I've tried almost everything there is to try.

I tried Buprenorphine almost 3 years ago, my condition wasn't as bad as it is now, but it knocked me for 6 within a couple of hours of putting the patch on, but out of everything I have taken, even though I only had the patch on a day, it is probably the most pain relief any medication has given me. (So far tried Gabapentin, Pregabalin, Amitriptyline, Fentanyl, Morphine, Burpenorphine, Codeine, Nortriptyline, Ketamine)

I really don't know what to do.

Have you tried any form of pain relief that isn't medication? If you have and it didn't work then I'm sorry for mentioning it - I know how annoying it is to be told "you want to try X" if you've done it already. I only ask as I gave up on medication a long time ago as it didn't seem to be helping, other than the odd codeine-related pill when it's really awful.

That said, I also tried acupuncture, massage, TENS and osteopathy with not much relief. Botox and physio, exercise, heat packs and sheer bloody-mindedness get me through these days.

Anyway, 20 days is a long time to try tablets, so yes, ring the doctor again.
