I am off sick at the moment due to overdoing it at work! I was taking 200 mg+ of morphine plus I wear 75mg durogesic patch just to get through the day.
I was managing my pain quite well at work but then was asked to change my hours which meant that I didn't get a break between my work days. I did this to help out but when I told them I wasn't coping and wanted to change my work days back to what they were I was told that it could not be done. So I carried on and then the inevitable happened. So here I am.
Hi Sue I hope you are feeling a bit better now after that work problem. As for me I was at the pain clinic yesterday this now being 6 moth since my first visit and now I have more pain now at the top of my spine, at work I am doing 2 extra hours a day also 1 days extra work as the supervisor Aggie 64 fell of a ladder and broke her ankle . The extra hours are taking its toll on me what with more pain an more pills etc its as you know a vicious circle. What we need is a large lottery win,
Employment couldn't cope with me, far to ridgid and unsympathetic so am now self employed. Work when I want, balance with family life, don't feel guilty if I'm not up to it. But even when I'm resting I can be doing admin on the laptop, finding new clients etc. Its just a different way of life. Everythings upside down and back to front. But it works for me.
During this hot weather, I'm doing my work 6 - 10 in the morning, then having the rest of the day off and doing a bit more in the evening. Love lying out and feeling the heat in my bones.
Hi Zanna so glad you have found something which works for you. I dream of being self employed but couldnt come up with anything that would make enough money to cover bills. Have gone part time now and its helpling a lot. No more holidays or shopping and worrying about bills but at least my pain in a little better. Hope others find a way of coping.
Hi Frame,
It was a big decision at the time with a huge loss of income to consider. But we decided my health was more important. I could have just stopped working but I felt I needed to do something.
Most people are happy to wait a few days longer if I'm bad with the pain. Communication goes a long way too.
