Hi. My pain clinic consultant put me on this 3 months ago and I must say it is brilliant. I take zomorph 30mg at night and 10mg inthe morning and top up with oramorph as and when required. I also take pregabalin 300mg twice a day. This combination was ok but I still had a lot of break through pain. Since adding in mexiletine life is more bearable. Ok it makes me feel pretty numb and sort of on the outside looking in but I would much rather that than the constant pain. For the first time in over 3 years I can get a full nights sleep. Hope this helps and I hope you get some good results too. Ask if you want to know more. Good luck.

Hi again do you have to pay privately for the prescription of this drug or do you get it on the NHS? and when you say you feel quite numb are you ok to drive a car? thanks for your help.

Hi Kathy, I am curious as to why you and others are on Mexiletine for pain ?This drug is a heart drug for the treatment of Ventricular Arrhythmias. I am going of to talk to my friendly Pharmacist. I know that Doctors use a host of drugs for eg,Anticonvulsants to treat pain but I cant figure this one out. Kind regards to all

Hi there, I just wondered with reference to you getting yours on the NHS, if you don't mind me asking what part of the country do you live in? its just that my pain specialist seemed to think that they had to be imported and that I would have to pay for them as he didn't think that I would be able to get them on the NHS although he did say he was not sure and that I should check with my GP. I live in Hampshire.

thanks for your help
