I have been thinking how good it would be to be able to meet up occasionally to support each other, share information and socialise. I noticed there are quite a few people on the forum living in the greater Manchester area and wondered if anyone else is interested.
Let me know and if so we could look at the logistics of where and when, etc.
love

Although we are not in the Manchester area we do make contact with others in the same clinic at the Christie and keep in touch via phone, could be nice to meet others.
I still want to meet as group but had chemo last week so not well enough yet. got one more hopefully on 29th april and think it would have to be a couple of weeks after that for me, I'm happy for people to meet at my house in Heaton chapel, stockport for first one. Can do any day but Jan can't do thursdays so needs to be another day. Let me know what you think.

Hi, I am a Gynae specilaist Nurse at The Christie- working within surgery. Myself and x3 other CNS's are currently setting up a support group if you would be interested in joing us? It will be evry 6 weeks - at the Angel Centre in Salford. We picked it there as its easy to get to by car or train and free parking.
If you are interested in joining us please let me know
Will it be just for ovarian cancer and how are you planning to use the time? Sound interesting so will you let me have details please and also put a posting on the forum. I go to Dr Welch and didn't know there a specialist nurse there since Judy heron left who I miss very much
Hi Francesca were you thinking of a group situation or meeting up whilst we are attending
the hospital for treatment? Meeting up and having coffee or lunch. I think its a good idea
it makes the day go quicker and nice to meet people with the same compliant OC. I usually go to the Wed clinic and there are loads of people but with all different cancers. So its difficult to spot someone with the same . It helps you when someone has the same as you you can have a good natter and of course a laugh at ourselves!!. I live too far away to commit to a group but I think it is also a good idea. Where I lived before this was my biggest grump, no group for OC, which I am sure I would have befitted from. I have gain great strength from this forum it has been very up lifting and sad but also very informative, One of the main things is that we also have some laughter.
I did have a Gynae Nurse at the Christie and I am sure it was Helen if it was you give Mr. Smith my regards.
sorry not replied before been dealing with chemo. I go to clinic on fridays so can't meet up I'm afraid and actually I hope enough people living around greater manchester will be interested in meeting up maybe every month or 6/8weeks. Maybe you will find others who can meet at clinic
You are welcome to e-mail me- helen.savage@christie.nhs.uk and I can give you some more information.
The support group is in its early stages- but we really want it patient focused so that you can take the lead on it. We will help of course but we were thinking of getting people in such as benefits advisors, complementary therapist so you can have a massage etc, dieticians anything really, we are open to fundraising etc etc.
The support group is for any Gyane patients. at the last group we had x2 ladies with OC and a lady with cervical cancer - hope this helps- hope to hear from you
