Hi no I did ask about avastin but was told as I was on my 2nd line I wasn't eligible as it was only being given to 1st line. I now feel the OC could well be returning after only 3 months so I feel avastin should be offered to everyone. Good luck x

I meant to say it has now been approved for a recurrence...that is if you live in England this doesn't apply to Scotland, Ireland or Wales. But when I had a recurrence it wasn't used for a recurrence...but now it is love x G x :-)

Hi Gwyn, How did you get the NHS to give you Avastin? My oncologist told me that it's available only for first line treatment. Any advice would be very welcome!

Hi Babaloo,

I haven't had Avastin for recurrance it wasn't offered then... but it has since (last month I think) been given a licence to use for a recurrance....but "NICE" hasn't approved it yet, but some health trusts are now giving it, The Ovacome staff mentioned it...but I can't remember what blog I read it on (I have just tried to find it) you could give Ruth Payne a ring tel 0845 371 0554 she will be able to tell you I am sure... best wishes love x G x

hello, I'm on avastin from November 2011. don't have any side effect witch is good. just odd bleeding nose but nothing else. in July CT scan showed some changes and C is coming back, my oncologist said Avastin stopping C acting aggressive and also giving me longer time before i will have to start line of chemo. if you have any questions,I'm here to help x

I am on carbo/gem second line chemo and since cycle five have been given Avastin, I have bleeding nose and problems with high blood pressure, which I have to resolve. Second line chemo has shown CA125 go up and down, on downward trend at the moment. I live in England and unsure about easy it is to get access to Avastin.

Take care xx

I have just had Avastin with fifth and sixth cycles of chemo and will now have every three weeks on it's own.

Headaches with first dose but not too bad with second. Blood pressure up a bit but no other side effects yet though early days. Expect to be on it for a year if it works. Hopeful!!!!

Sorry, think I may have confused you, my treatment is first line in that Avastin has been started as part of my first line of chemo. Does that make sense? !

I had two infusions of Avastin, 3 weeks apart, and have discontinued due to bleeding: daily nose bleeds when I blow (saline nasal mist helps a lot) and occasional blood in the toilet bowl after I pee.

Am also on weekly Paclitaxel. Having a PET scan this week and hoping for improved results so I can get off chemo. But have learned that this is always one day at a time!
