Hello everyone. I’m coming to the end of my avastin treatment. Have another 2 to go.. oncologist says he will arrange a ct scan And then leave me without treatment for a while. Feeling scared of this as I won’t be talking to him until mid November. Just wondering what happens without treatment... I have peritoneal high grade .. no operation as wide spread and very small like grains of rice. Had 6 sessions chemo and avastin then only avastin. BTW is there anyone else in the Canterbury area.?

Avastin discontinuing
Hi, I'm in the Canterbury area not too far from University of Kent. I know the feeling when treatment stops it felt a bit like being cut loose after loads of attention with bloods, pre chemo checks, chemo etc and for me surgery too. I started watch and wait with 3 monthly checks last year and since March have moved to 6 monthly so due a phone appt next month. I have got used to it now and if I felt unwell I knew I could always contact my research nurse as am on Icon 8b trial. If you want to chat do feel free to DM me. Judith x
Like you I was a bit worried about going it alone when I came to the end of Avastin. I decided to book myself on Macmillan’s Hope course where I was able to meet and share fears and hopes for the future with other cancer patients. It really helped me to face the future xx
Hi Lyndy
How did you find Avastin?
I am nearing the end of frontline chemo trying to decide of I want to go on it or not.I am not liking the sound of the possible side effects.
Good morning I have been on Avastin for the past 7 months, 4 of those months were combined with taxol and carbo. Aside from the high blood pressure and joint pain no real other affects. My Onc who I trust told me research has shown that Avastin for a year after drops the reoccurrence rate by 10 to 15%. Doesn't sound like a lot but ANY bump is grateful fighting this devastating cancer. Of course it is always your choice and you should discuss with your Onc team. Also see if there are any studies you are eligible for.
Good Luck Kick Cancer's A**

Hi Debbie
Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply.Do you take something for the high blood pressure and will that return to normal once finished? Glad to hear you are doing well on it,
Take care,
Claire.
I take 2 tablets ofNorvasc 5 mg each and 1 tablet of Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg
Funny thing is my blood pressure at times was 190 over 99 although I couldn’t tell by how I felt. Talk about surprised as I am normally 120 over 75 so quite high. We initially had only the norvasc but needed an extra pill cause it didn’t quite lower it enough per my Onc and GP. It is now regularly at 135 over 85 . Doable. sofar for the past 7 months no issues. It will go back to normal when I stop in March or April. The benefits for me outweigh the negatives right now. Oh I will be 62 this October.
Hi there I too am high grade 4b inoperable as it's small bits sprayed everywhere ovaries tubes omentum peritoneal liver spleen and aortic lymph nodes. Diagnosed July 2016. I had 8 carboplatin and paclitaxol followed by a year of avastin which finished in march. Was rescanned at the end of August and the avastin is still working consultant says although ca125 is rising scan shows no new or any growth in cancer she is very happy and told be in my case it was best news I could have and she will not rescan till December. The side effects of the avastin now wearing off. I am in Sevenoaks under Maidstone and Tw NHS trust. Not that far from you. Good luck
