Treatment 2 done now.

Not quite so good as last time though.... Arrived for 11oclock appointment on thursday, after being told there was a bed booked for the chemo. Went into the assessment unit, Had checks, went for blood test in the out patients, then told had an hours wait for results before seeing the doctor....went out for lunch. Came back and waited, and waited, then the bed manager came over to tell me there may not be a bed! Not happy as I had been taking my steroids and antihistamine ready for the chemo. When the doctor came I told her what I though.... She spoke to the bed manager and they then decided they may have one for me later. I eventually finished my chemo at 10.45pm!!!!! No joke. Ready to trow me out at 11o'clock, but stayed until after my lunch and my last lot of steroids as I had last time.

Glad to be home. Hope there are no problems this time, as it is my daughters 40th birthday party next week, and I can't miss that.

Dear Viv,

I was just thinking of you this morning and wondering how everything is going. I can't believe how you've been treated. It's absolutely disgraceful to leave you waiting for hours on end when you're far from well and having to deal with so many health problems. I can only admire your guts and determination for getting through it all.

Is this just the first of six sessions? I hope they get their act together before the next time. I'm not one for making a fuss but you know there are minimum standards hospitals must aspire to and I don't think your experience comes up to that level. I'd be prepared to complain in writing and ask what provision can be made to cater for your disability which is in addition to your medical condition. That might make them a bit sharper next time.

Sorry for the outburst. I'm just outraged on your behalf.

But on to happier things. I hope you enjoy the 40th birthday party. I'd love to hear about that.

Loads of love and hugs. xxx Annie

I'm clueless - it's the second treatment - the title of your blog says so! sorry for being stupid. xxx

Glad you got it sorted and you are back home. Sometimes you have to speak up (loudly sometimes) before anyone takes any notice.

Just focus on your daughters party, it's always nice to have something else to think about.

It was our daughters wedding 8wks after I was diagnosed earlier this year and I can honestly say OC took to the back burner.

Best wishes

Hi Viv,

I am so sorry,It must be really tiring for you, and I know you have had such a lot of treatment, from my point of view though it is encouraging that you are still having treatment.

I remember you Viv on the "What Now" website (although I never took part) and doesn't it seem a long time ago? I don't think I mentioned to you that Kezzerbird lost her fight last August... I know I mentioned this to someone else... but I don't think it was you..but I do remember you enquiring at one time.

I know you are a strong person... and I hope things will improve soon... sending my love and best wishes x G x :-)

Hi Viv, was wondering how things were with you. Just focus on the 40th birthday, and try not to let the ****ers get you down.

Love and hugs (((xxx)))

Isn't amazing how strong we are?

Hope all goes well Viv and that you have a wonderful birthday celebration with your daughter. These milestones are so precious.

Hi Viv

That sounds horrendous! I had number 4 on Thursday. We didn't realise until about 5 pm that they had written me up an extra litre of hydration fluids, so we didn't get out he hospital until around 10 pm. Once again after 6pm the day unit transferred me to the onc ward, again it was too late for the hospital food, so it's no wonder I was sick twice on the way home! We're going to have to work out the feeding for they day, take extra sandwiches or something!

Chris

I don't understand what they are trying to do for you. What are you on that takes so long? I never had that kind of problem there. Don't they have food for long treatments? I should have thought they would have something on standby for you. That's one thing I can say, I can always get food as they have their own kitchens! How's the ca 125 going. Is the treatment actually showing signs f working?

Let me know .

Viv

It's a job to know what to do when you have long sessions of chemo. The hospital I go to in Cardiff don't supply food. I was there for about 7hrs and used to take my own sandwiches for lunch. My appointments were always for 8..30/9am so was ready to go by 4.30. They did offer us coffee or tea twice during that time but no food.

I suppose if you have to travel a long distance and have your bloods done the same day that takes extra time so you would have thought they would give you the earlier app. I used to have my bloods done on Tues and Chemo on Fri.

It's too much to think about when you are unwell.

Here's hoping they get their act together and sort it out.

Best wishes

Hi Viv

Tried to reply before but it didn't go. Hope you're feeling better now but you shouldn't let them off with that treatment.

Hope you enjoy the party.

Hi there Viv ...

No wonder you were so glad to be home after that awful treatment ..it takes such a lot of strenght to complain in writting but feel you should do so after what you went through .

Hospitals vary so much in the way they care for patients which should not be the case ...

Take good care now xx
