Thank you for letting me know I was not on the site last year so I did not know about the cards . I will certainly be looking out for them, does the money go directly to Ovacome ?

Christmas will be here before we know it. Must say I have been lazy this year I went on Amazon last night and bought all the grand kids Christmas presents. I even ordered myself a juicer to make lovely fruit and vegetable juices. I will be trying out recipes tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions they have tried maybe you can post them.

Dear Babs, I bought two juicers last year. Sent the first one back which I'd bought online as it was a nightmare to put together. I changed it for a magimix juicer which I get on with really well.

I've a small recipe book of juices. You're going to have such fun with it. I love orange with ginger. I'm a bit addicted to ginger. You really can put anything together but you have to avoid mixing colours. Kiwifruit with orange, for instance, makes an unappetising colour. Juiced beetroot is stunning. Spirulina in juice is good - as is wheatgrass but I've only ever had these in juice bars. Not sure where to buy this stuff. xxxx

Good for you Babs, its not being lazy it is conserving energy for something more enjoyable, self care is so important. I have a juicer gathering dust in the cupboard so shame on me, now that is lazy I will get it out today, love Diane xxx :)

Hello there Babs ..

Yes its says on the website that all the money raised from the sale of the cards will go to supporting women with Ovarian cancer .

I have brought some already from our own local cancer charity the Big C which are rather nice . Strange how things work out in life as Hubby started last year to help out at one of the Big C charity shops in Norwich ..and this year in January I get diagnosed with OC ....

I was like you last year as could not do a lot of shopping for Christmas as was waiting for my op on Dec 23rd ..so it was done on line ..so much easier and our wonderful daughter was brilliant too at shopping for me ...

Have fun with your juicer ..not got one ... I just eat it as it comes and lots of it too .... I eat masses of fruit fresh and dried as in prunes and apricots ..helps keep the tum is good order ...

Thanks Jan!

I buy my cards a year ahead! (organisation freak that I am) this year it is mainly St Leonards, our local hospice but I shall get some Ovacome cards and try selling some on to friends.

Thanks again

Leg has given me hell this week! Had to skip the opera tonight as I cannot sit for any length of time. Luckily the friend who was going with me found someone to use my ticket! I did not charge for it but I hate to think of the waste as she would not have wanted to go alone!

Jan76 profile image
Jan76 in reply toMargaretJ

Dear Margaret,

So sorry to hear you have had a terrible week , such shame you missed the Opera but as you said at least someone could use it .

I do so hope that they will soon be able to sort you out xx

As for the snow that's the last thing you need living on the top of a hill.

When I was in hospital last year before my op Brian told me that our council had brought our road a grit box as I had been on at them for one ...but I could not use it .....I have used a wheel barrow to get the grit from up the road in the past ..... Take good care now xx

The word "hill" is a relative term in York! Blink and you miss it! LOL! I am no more than 50 feet above sea level and probably only 20 above the river. I have never even used the bottom 8 gears on my bike! There is a slight slope outside my house but it is rarely a problem!

Morning Margaret ...

We have been to lovely York a couple of times and seen some of it ..it gets so very busy and that was October when we went ..always full of tourists ..like us !!!!

We were staying in Yorkshire in a wonderful b and b and we did the park and ride which was very good ...

Love to go back again some day ...

Hi Jan!

It is a lovely place to live and I chose to stay here after my divorce as I have lived here longer than anywhere else in my life. I live near the racecourse in a nice friendly mixed community with great neighbours and super shops and still within walking distance of town!

Hi there Margaret ..

Its a blessing living in a good community with good friends and neighbours .

We were very sad when last week we saw that the couple across the road from us had put their house up for sale not that they really wanted to move but needed a bigger garden for the children .Hubby learnt from Ben on Saturday that the house they were after had fallen through so they were staying put they do love being here and we love having them as they just lovely neigbours .Its not always been that way but things have improved over the years ... need to have a bite to eat now as our visitors have just left ..Ali our daughter brought Georgie and Marna to see us this morning her two uni friends .

They were at Homerton teacher training college at Cambridge together .

So lovely to see them both , we had seen Marna about 18mths ago but its ben a while since we had last seen Georgie .

Both have two little boys each .... they sound a handfull but lots of fun ...

Hi Margaret,

I am so with you on this, I had sciatica last year as the tumour was pressing on a nerve, since chemo I have had relief but it is back getting worse. It came on quite badly in the car yesterday when I was driving. It really dictates what we can do, I really don't want to resort to the painkillers just yet but I know I will have to, poor you you have had this a long time. If it is not related to the cancer try some alternative treatments an osteopath sorted it out for me some years ago before the C days, love Diane xxx :( :)

MargaretJ profile image
MargaretJ in reply todaisycandoit

Oh you have my heartfelt sympathy Diane.

Mine is not strictly C related but I am convinced that it has something to do with the after effects of the chemo and the way it affects the ligaments. The worst news is being told that I may never be pain free again! Without the painkillers I am literally reduced to tears and I do not cry easily. I have never had anything this bad, even the abscesses after the first op were less painful!

Love Margaret

I have started some pain killers now, you are so right the pain is unbearable, I am so sorry that they can do nothing for yours, if it is down to the chemo. Aftereffects are difficult to cope with, I have a lot of cramping in the legs at night and numbness on soles of feet but this is bearable, my heart goes out to you

MargaretJ profile image
MargaretJ in reply todaisycandoit

Oh I get the cramp and numbness too! I still have numbness 2 years on and it has caused me to stumble and fall on several occasions, I have even headbutted the odd wall. I can look drunk! LOL!

Poor you I hate the snow. Last time it snowed I did not drive for 4 days as we live at the bottom of a big hill, I had to trug up the hill to our local Asda just to get bread and milk. So please keep your snow.

Last night's snow did not stick! Just to my car! And I can walk to shops that have everything I need!
