Any body had a problem with pains and distension in the stomach after chemo? My GP doesn't seem to have a clue, but after a week it would be nice if I could wear a bra again!!

Hi Viv
Yes I get pains and some distension after chemo and it does settle down. It's as tho the chemo inflames my gut . However I think you would be wise to contact your chemo unit for advice they will know about the reactions to your chemo.#
Hope you get it sorted. I was wondering how youwere doing
Luv'n'hugs

I contacted the chemo unit yesterday, with a report from my GP, also asking for abdominal drainage...... haven't heard a thing today - but its reassuring that somebody understands where I am coming from. It's nothing every mentioned as a side effect, and after all my treatments I've never had it before. Now I've got fluid building up again, so need that cleared before chemo next week, so hopefully they can organize that locally.
love n hugs

Hope you get an answer soon. .I get so angry when people don't phone back. I know they can be busy but it doesn't take long to give some reassuring advice which can make such a difference to us.
what chemo are you having now?
Love Suex
I'm having carboplatin again, after being desensitised. I had an anaphylactic reaction when they tried giving it to me a second time, so hopefully this will allow it to work. That's why I wondered if t was the treatment as they give me steroids and antihistamine before and after the treatment, and put the carboplatin in starting with weak solutions, then getting stronger, over about 5 bags over 3 hours. Very reassuring and attentive.
Off again next week if I get these problems sorted.
Love n hugs
Viv
Dear Viv
It does sound as though it needs to be drained. I hope you get referred very soon as it must be so uncomfortable.
Load of love, xxx Anne
Dear Viv
I do hope they can do what you need so it all becomes more comfortable. I agree about the need to be told what they think the side effects may be. It's important to know whAt might happen with any medication.
Thinking of you, sending a cyber hug (((xxx)))

Are your bowels moving well enough as I have fluid and distension permanently but its worse when I don't go properly. My fluid has reduced though with only one treatment of Carboplatin. Hope you get it sorted. Sue x
Dear Viv, that's really bad that nobody's got back to you and you're suffering at home wondering what's going on. It seems to be keeping you awake at night too. I do hope someone gets in touch today so you can sort this out.
Take care - and let us know whether you can get it sorted out locally or have to travel further afield.
Lovely part of the country you're from. We used to have a caravan at Ancton. I went back with my Dad about 10 years ago. It hadn't changed in 40 years!
