Caelyx followed by Carboplatin and Taxol

I've been advised that I could have Caelyx followed by Carboplatin and Taxol further down the line. Wondered if anyone had gone down this route and if what the advantages and disadvantages were.

Hi Mary,

Have you been on chemo before ? The reason I ask is in my experience most people start off with carboplatin/plaxitaxol as these are the platinum based chermos. If you fail to respond to those you are then given another drug which could be caelyx.

Hi Mary

As Spanishanna said above I've had two full courses of carbo/taxol which are usually the first line treatment (and second if you respond well) and got into remission both times.I'm now on caelyx which is also working well to date but it's one of the drugs used when the carbo/taxol combination is no longer viable. The only advantage with caelyx as far as I can see is that there is almost no hair loss but I've lost mine twice with taxol. It might be worth checking out with your oncologist why this is being suggested for you.

Good luck
