Good news on Carboplatin and Caelyx

Hi Lovely Ladies, I have been on my 4th line treatment Carbo and Caelyx my 125 had gone up to 1300 while i was on 3rd line treatment of single Taxol, my oncologist said to stop and try Carbo/Caelyx. To day went to see her about results of scan and 125, good news my scan showed improvement and 125 had come down to 176 from 1300 after only 3 treatments, I have one more this week then she will check my heart results before any more Caalyx.This calls for a whole block of chocolate, sending you all my best wishes ..Lorraine💙💙

Hi Katmal, Thank for your reply I did enjoy the chocolate but had to eat fast or my husband has more then his share , I went to the shops to day and stocked up.

Hi Lorraine, I am also on this just had my fourth chemo like you I am doing ok. Well at least my ca 125 is coming down so hopefully I won't need any more.

I am so pleased for you it has made my day. So far a lot of ladies have found Caelyx hasn't worked for them we must be the lucky ones. Take care Cindyxx

Hi Cindy, Glad it's working for you also ,as you said it does not work for every one so hoping that the ladies is does not work for, find that special treatment suitable for them. I'm having my 4th this Monday, then a heart test as caelyx can effect the heart, if ok 2 more . Next week I'm going to see a Sergent to see if a second surgery would be suitable my oncologist feels if it was it would be now .when the cancer is reduced it will be interesting to hear the Sergent's reply is...Best wishes to you Cindy..Lorraine 💙💙

Hi Lorraine, its sounding really good for you. Let's hope you can have surgery anything that can get you into a good place & keep you there for a very long time.

No one has mentioned testing my heart I have had my 4th Caelyx now. I live in the UK maybe it's that. Thinking of you take care Cindyxx

Hi Cindy, My oncologist said from the start Caelyx is hard on the heart that is why she keeps a eye on it, I had one before starting and now this one half way of the 6 . I'm in Australia but this should not make a differences maybe you could ask your oncologist how they feel about it

HI Maz, It was a good drop from 1300 to 175 in 3 treatment my 4th is this Monday then two more if my heart results are good, I'm sure it will be, I'm hoping for a nice long break as I've not had more then 6 months in the last 2 1/2 years,

I hope it does give hope to as all, I know that it does not work for everyone but it gives hope that there is a treatment out there and hopefully more in the future.

How did you go with the cam/carbo? Hope all is well Lorraine xx

Hi Lorraine and yep my disease the same - 8 months is the longest I've managed out of treatment. Wish it was different but wasted emotion I guess.

The regime isn't too bad thanks for asking. My bloods have been okay so far apart from platelets been pretty low at times - have the GSF jabs etc to help support things.

Markers have been dropping but slowly - see the team on Tuesday so we'll see.

HI Jeanette, I hope Caelyx is the one for you, I had Caelyx before and manage the 6 month

treatment and found it effective, that is way my oncologist put me back on Caelyx but this time with carb, The side effect were hard at times then I was given steroids before chemo this help a lot with handling the side effect. Maybe you could ask about the steroids. Some ladies on Caelyx find they have very little side effect at all hope this is the case for you. Keep up the fight best wishes Lorraine xx💜💜

Lorraine, I am well, NED 11 months with CA stable. I do have another hernia which has emerged since colostomy reversal. Going to see surgeon about hernia repair tomorrow. Not looking forward to yet another surgery, but grateful to be feeling well. 😊

Hi Lorraine......good to hear from you. Well I'll tell you I found the perfect remedy for pain........one pain pill, one tylenol, one bottle of champagne. LOL It worked for this evening and being with some friends I have not seen in awhile, what a great evening. I even "whatsapp'd" my Dr. with the remedy, he really laughed. Hi Lorraine

So pleased to hear the Carbo/Caelyx combo is working well for you. It worked well for me too. I had 6 sessions (along with Avastin). After 2 sessions, the side effects were too much & my onc reduced the dose of the caelyx. That made it all tolerable. I didn't have steroids. I went into a good remission, which I'm still in. I'm thanking the Caelyx for the remission & the Avastin for keeping me there. The Avastin trial requires me to have my heart checked every 3 months as, apparently caelyx can still affect your heart for that long. Hope the chemo went well today. Best wishes Pauline
