Has anyone ever tried doing a detox, cleanse or fasting after chemo? I finished my chemo (carbo/ taxol) in May but am still feeling sluggish, tired and achey. I wondered if a detox might help. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi I have not tried either fasting or detox as I'm still having chemo ( Have 3 sessions left) but my thoughts are to eat healthy lots of fruit, veg, salads water, chicken and fish. I tend to stick to this type of diet most of the time and although I feel tired the 3-4 days after chemo once that period has passed I feel ok not how I felt before my diagnosis's, but well enough to go back to work and meet up with family and friends. I think sticking to a healthy diet helps, do let me know if you try the detox.
Good luck Babs x x x
Hi Katy,
I would have thought it is the worse thing you could do......You really need to build your strength up...please do not try this without medical advice..ring your specialist nurse or ring the helpline on OvaCome and speak to Ruth Payne tel 08453710554
Feeling sluggish, tired, and achy is par for the course... most people feel like this for ages after chemo.. Best wishes x G x
Hi Katy, i am with Gwyn on this one . It is early days yet , I would be eating healthy with plenty fruit and veg and gradually building up your strength . It can take several months to fully recover . I know we want to be up and running and put this behind you but need to crawl then walk and then run . You will get there
best wishes

Hi there Katy .....
Same here from me Katy .....Your body needs time to repair its self slowly ...so stay with the fruit , salads , veggies , meat , fish , the glass of red wine if that's your passion ! Lots of water too ...gentle walks ...and TLC to your body .I have carried on taking the vits both those I had pre cancer and those's I added during chemo .
Take care now ...
Love Jan xx
