Tweetingasme, very interesting, thanks. Love Sue x
Thanks. Sometimes wonder if people find links like this useful or just a nuisance. Linda
Hi Linda,
I also found it very useful. I see there is something on there I need to mention to my oncologist.
Thank you.

Dear Tweetingasme
Thanks for this link. From the slides there was a link to the American Cancer Society webpages and an interesting note there on Tumour Markers for women with epithelial ovarian cancer - and I've noted some of the ladies on this site do have this - but I've never heard mention of HE4 levels that can be a better marker of the progress of the disease than CA125 in this group of patients. Here is the quote:
Tumor markers
Some women with epithelial ovarian cancer have normal levels of the tumor marker CA-125. In these women, the only way to tell whether treatment is working (or to see if the cancer has come back) is to do tests like CT scans. Experts have found that in many women with ovarian cancer, the blood level of a protein called HE4 is increased. If you have ovarian cancer and a normal CA-125 level, your doctor may decide to check the HE4 level. If it is high, it can be used instead of CA-125 to guide treatment.
Perhaps this would be an interesting question to your oncologist if you have this type of tumour?
Annie
Thanks Annie
Yes, I've come across mention of HE 4 before. My CA125 was very high before surgery and then came right down to 10 before the end of chemo so I don't know if this is something I need to think about but it may be helpful to others.
All the best
Linda
