New ovarian cancer diagnosis
Hi there Pyotts . and a very warm welcome from your friends here. No doubt you'll have some more messages as we all know what it feels like to have a diagnosis of Ovarian. Sending hugs .. Sue xx
Hi, welcome to the forum which nobody wants to join but it is a great place for information (ask anything) and lets face it a good old rant when times get tough! Hope your chemo goes well today! It's very daunting when you first start treatment (understatement) but you are not alone! Sending you a big hug. Kathy xx
Hi lovely,
As everyone else has said welcome to the party, we're all a big family on here although we'd rather meet under different circumstances.
If any of us can be any help with questions you have just post and we'll all do our best to answer.
Xxx
Hi love, welcome to our gang. We're here to help in anyway we can, we're really good at listening as well as offering support and information. I hope your first chemo goes well and you don't have too many side effects. Take the drugs they give you and rest. ❤️Xx Jane
Best of luck with your chemo- hopefully like me you will find it better than you thought it might be! xxL
Hi there, Welcome & sending you good wishes with your treatment.xxx
Welcome. I hope your first chemo has gone well. I also hope the cold cap works for you. I couldn't willingly submit to something that was going to make me feel cold. Having said that, I like winter sports and the snow but I'm properly dressed for that. I found I needed gloves and warm clothes with my first line chemo as I think the drugs are kept refrigerated and made me feel very cold as they were going through my veins. Then of course I'd eventually start to feel warmer but unable to take of my jacket because of the cannula and line. I never quite got everything to my satisfaction but I did learn as I went along. No lace-up shoes for instance as the urgent need to visit the loo what with all that saline solution was incompatible with the time taken to tie laces.
Hope the cold cap works; it does for many.
All the best.
Hi. Ditto to the comments above. Stick with the cold cap. Remember to take painkillers before u start though as it is far from pleasant. FYI. I finished chemo 6th July. Had my hair cut last week and am now wig free. 🎉 Not a buzz cut hairdo either!

Hi
Good luck with the chemo . I used the cold cap and kept my hair although it did thin and I ended up with a small bald patch at the top as the cap didn't fit properly for 1 session . So make sure the cap is touching the top of your head and tight fitting .
Was lucky as had few side effects from chemo apart from tiredness and aches in my legs . Try and do some walking each day even if you are feeling tired . Used to walk up and down the bedroom when I couldn't sleep as helped with the aches ., also good to drink plenty of water . Sending a big hug and best wishes love Kim x
Yes welcome, you can ask anything here everyone is great.
I had lovely long blond hair until I was half way through and when it started to get thin and fall i had to shave my head.
There was only one cold cap available, you know I thought it looked very uncomfortable and was watching the nurse putting it on one day it was so tight looking.
So good luck with that. If it does not work for you there are some lovely head pieces you can get.
Good luck,
Ann Nora 🍀
So nice you found us right away. Drink lots of water and take the nauseous meds before you need them. Know we are all in this together. You are unfortunately now a part of our sisterhood. And its invaluable to have the love, wisdom and support of these women who know what you are going through. You got this! ♥️👍🏻💪🏻

Hi welcome,I ve only been on here a short while but find it an enormous comfort. This cancer lark can feel a lonely place at times, but sharing with those who have walked the walk is a great leveller.Wishing you the very best in your treatment. Sharon x
Hi...I'm relatively new to the site too and it is incredibly supportive and informative. I wasn't given the option of the cold cap but if it doesn't work out I really liked my wig and had lots of compliments on it! Good luck with your chemo. xx
I'm so thrilled that so many of you have commented on my post. The day went ok although the cannula had to be moved to my other hand due to swelling and the pipe blew off the line and sprayed me with one of the drugs so the nurses went into nuclear spillage alert and one of them had to put on a suit, mask etc which made everyone laugh in the ward!
I was in from 9 to 5pm and had the cold cap on for most of the time. First 15 minutes the worst but after that fine. Hope it works. Just working out what shampoo to us and how often I should wash my hair now .xx
Hi Pyotts and welcome to the club! Sounds like your first chemo was a bit of a baptism of fire but these things do happen though thankfully not very often! I didn't use a cold cap so can't give advice on shampoo but when it started to grow back I just used baby shampoo as my scalp was a bit itchy!
Hopefully it will work for you , please feel free to ask anything here as you will get loads of support! Take care
Jane xx
Hi there
You have completed your first day with quite a bit of drama . If that didn't put you off I think you are one cool girl and you will do just fine. I didn't do the cold cap as I suffer from the cold with a condition called Raynauds. My hands go blue and occasionally white and numb ! I would have had a numb head and my little brain would be frozen. Good luck with the rest of your treatment . Everyone is here to help you along. Take care
