Doxil plus Avastin

Mom (71 yrs) is put on Doxil and Avastin as other treatment failed to response in last one year. Do anybody have any experience to share. I am worried about side effects. Any feedback would he greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm currently on Doxil/Avastin for recurrence as carbo/taxol didn't work so now I'm platinum resistant. I'm in the states my center closely monitors prior to starting I had to have a heart echo have another one in 3 months, urine and CBC is checked prior to Avastin for protein in the urine, elevated blood pressure can be an issue with Avastin I take mine each day and keep a log I run low so far so good. I get Avastin by itself every 2 weeks then with Doxil extreme fatigue for 24 hours sleep around the clock. Have your mom chew ice during the doxil to prevent mouth sores I bought udder cream from Amazon put on my feet and hands. I haven't had my CA125 checked which is a bit elevated don't be alarmed as it can go up during the first few cycles of Doxil as it creates inflammation, it's then supposed to come down. I was concerned going on this combination I flew to Houston Texas to MD Anderson for a second opinion as I have low grade along with my gyno/onc who I respect both recommended it. Hope this helps.

Forgot to add my onc recommend vitamin B6 100 mg and CQ10 or Ubiquinol (I take this) for side effects from the Doxil also Claritin for bone pain that both these can cause.

Hello – I understand your fears, whenever a new med is started, it’s a bit nerve-racking. I did very well on Doxil and Avastin, and then was put solely on Avastin for monthly maintenance. Minimal side effects. Avastin raised my BP but medication normalized it. . I hope your mom gets good results like I did.
