Thank you for your post. I'm sure our members will be along to support you and share their experiences. I just wanted to encourage you to discuss the painful water retention you are experiencing with your medical team or GP.
It sounds from your post that you have discussed diuretics with your doctor, but if you have any questions or feel your fluid retention is not improving please do contact them again.
I hope they will be able to advise you so you can have some relief from this soon.
There is also some general advice on oedema (swelling in the ankles, feet or legs) on the NHS website here: nhs.uk/conditions/oedema/
I had sepsis after first round of chemo and was in hospital for 12 days..came home with very little strength and mobility - hips legs and feet now full of fluid. On low dose of water tablets but can hardly walk- it’s affecting my mental health. Have tried dandelion root powder but nothing is working. Have asked for lymphatic drainage massage, so am waiting to see if they can help with that. Can’t move in bed at night, can’t use stairs, using commode and zimmer frame. It’s getting me down.
I have been off the antibiotics for 3 weeks but still the oedema continues. I am waiting for a referral to lymphodema team, but not sure how long that will take. Walking is only happening for me with a zimmer frame and the fluid and heaviness makes me breathless.
It’s a gorgeous spring morning out there and I can’t get out and enjoy it - it’s really affecting my mental health now.
Dear Pumpkinja, I am new to this forum so apologies for not addressing you in my reply. Its so difficult to get comfortable - I use an anti sickness to help me get to sleep and get about 3 hours until I wake with aching legs and then just can’t get my pillows right - or rather my husband tries for me but it’s difficult. I then lie awake and stare into the candle on our oil burner visualising this dis- ease leaving my body until I fall asleep again for a little while. How do you sleep? xxx
