I’m new on here. First sorry to read and see what you are all going through, you are all very strong and brave.
It’s my mum that has ovarian cancer stage 4, had 6 rounds of chemo then surgery - however the surgeon couldn’t operate as there was too much cancer to remove.
My question is, has anyone had the same happen to them and have you been able to carry on with treatment?
Thanks
Hollie

Yes this is often the case, particularly with stage 4. I had interval debulking after chemo 4 and it was very successful. The chemo acts to reduce the extent of cancer needing removal so less time on the table and hopefully they are able to get everything without the risk of spreading cancer cells.
I responded really well to the platinum chemo, so although they had booked 5 hours on the table I was in recovery just after 2 hours !
Thank you so much for your responses! I will pass this info on to my mum and family, consultants. I wish you all the best for the future and your families xxx
Hi Hollie. Firstly, I’m so sorry to hear about your Mum, I was in the exact same boat (also stage 4), and I was devastated, when I woke up from the anaesthetic to be told the cancer was too widespread to operate. I thought that was it. I was however still eligible to be treated with Avastin and Olaparib . I am 6 weeks in now with that regime and so far, so good. (I had the usual 6 rounds of chemo pre op) . I am feeling generally well with little to no side effects. CA125 is going down. At the start of my journey March 23, it was 9000, it is now 1000,. I have regained some positivity. I hope and pray that there is a pathway for your Mum too. Don’t give up hope. My daughter has kept me going throughout all of this, remaining positive the whole time, and it sounds like you are doing the same thing for your Mum. I wish you both all the very best going forward. If I can be of any more help, please don’t hesitate to ask. Sending hugs and positive vibes.
Thank you!! I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you to. Thank you for sharing your story and giving us hope. I send you all luck, hope in the world also and your family.
I will pass this on to my mum and tell her to join herself so she can reach out in the future xxx
To give you hope . I’m stage 1V , mets to liver. I only did chemo , 6 round but only 5 with taxol . My team are of the opinion if you have extensive mets to liver , they are not doing you any favours by operating . Diagnosed apr 2019 , been on Olaparib since Jan 2020. I Pray your mum is BRCA pos It helps . But to give you hope , I’m 79 and I’m skiing this week , reckless but fun . I really hope you get some good things happening for your mum!
We are getting a second opinion just to sure they she will be getting the right treatment going forward.
Enjoy your skiing trip, I wish you all the best!
Just wondered if you could all say what hospital you have been treated at. We are in London and my mum has been at Bart’s but possibly going to the royal Marsden.
I’m in Worthing , so it’s Royal Sussex county hosp trust . I think you are wise to check , as you never want to say I wish we had pursued that . And off course some people do get liver ablation , but I think that’s if it’s surface ???? . My team are fairly to the point in that they don’t sugar coat ,but I quite like that . Any way all of us are individual in this yuck disease , I just hope you get good results cos you sounded a bit like my daughter , just want your mum to be well
