Finally surgery! Swollen Inguinal lymph node.

Hi guys, I hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Dodging rainstorms here!

I had posted a while back about discovering a fairly large hard, immovable inguinal Lymph node. Well, with Covid so bad in my area, CT scans and other tests were delayed. I finally had the CT scan and the good news is that no cancer was found in my abdominal area but my CA125 was a bit elevated so he wanted to perform a laparoscopy at the same time he went in to remove the lump to have it tested. Plus, I am 5 years post diagnoses so I was ok with that idea. Just to make sure there were no critters hiding out.

I had the surgery this Wednesday and NO ovarian cancer was found anywhere in my abdomen or on any organs. So I am delighted with that news! 'Lumpy' has been sent for analyses and my follow up is the 24th.

The lump was 3.25" and hard. Not movable and painless. Definitely an inguinal node. Has anyone had this? Doc said it could be metastasized Ovarian Cancer or another type of cancer OR a whole lot of nothing. ... Scary for sure. Anyone?

Sounds like good news. I had an enlarged node there and they did a PET scan which showed it wasn’t cancer and over time it has gotten smaller and smaller.

Thank you for replying, Delia. How big was your lump? I think the fact that no OC had been found in my abdomen gives me hope it's not that. I also feel it had gotten a bit smaller in the past week or so. It could be sooo many things! I hate waiting to find out. I'll keep you posted!

Thank you! I remember when I was diagnosed 3b in 2015 and thinking that 5 years was so far away and would I make that goal. Of course my body has to throw in something new to worry about now. Lol. Hugs, Jill

I had the same thing, but in different circumstances - an enlarged, swollen and hard inguinal lymph node; that was the first thing I knew about having ovarian cancer, didn't know I'd got it and had no other symptoms; CA125 was 86. They biopsied it and tests showed it was non small cell neuroendocrine cancer, which caused a bit of a furore, since that type of cancer is very rare in the pelvis but common in the lungs. Had CT of chest, abdo and pelvis, which revealed a tumour on the pelvic wall and what looked like cancerous ovaries. And off I went on the conveyor belt of cancer treatment - major debulking surgery and so on. It was thought I probably started out with epithelial serous OC and it had differentiated into non small cell neuroendocrine - lungs were clear. But we did not find out for sure till 18 months later, when I had 3 enlarged inguinal nodes removed the other side - they showed high grade epithelial serous as well as the non small cell differentiation...

Your node may not be cancer at all, of course, and the fact there's nothing anywhere else is very good news - its just a wait and see what the histology shows once they've done it, and trying not to worry in the meantime... fingers crossed its nothing to worry about.

Thank you, Miriam. The news that my CT and laparoscopy were clear was great to know. Of course, lumpy could be all sorts of things but I tend to think it's not OC based on that fact. Not sure why my CA125 would go up to 85 from a steady 6. That puzzled him. But I did have a yeast infection. I hope all is well with you now. Hugs, Jill

Thank you! Doc mentioned radiation treatments if it does turn out to be cancerous. You didn't have a biopsy of your inguinal lump before radiotherapy? I am pretty nervous about what mine will turn out to be. Monday!!!

No my oncologist just said it looks like the cancer is on the move and that radiotherapy would shrink it and kill the cancer cells as there was no evidence of anything else. I guess she knew as that was how i was diagnosed with a lymph node in the other groin xx
