Small positives/ascities

Hello Everyone,

I've just spent the past week in hospital getting ascities drained. Had CT this morning & no new cancer & all is stable.

My question.....what treatment are you on to keep ascities away? I really don't want to go through this again any time soon.

Thank you x

hi pixie,

I had ascities drained last January and also pleural effusion, both were many litres. They did say it might have to be done regularly but it hasn’t returned in the past year and I feel so much better for it. The ascities and PE had also collapsed a lung which made it exhausting to even walk up a flight of stairs at home. Of all the treatments I have had this has been the most successful and gave me the most notable improvement on day to day life! Good luck with everything.

Xb

That is so great it hasn't returned. I would be so happy if it works for me too. PE and collapsed lung that must have been so tough. Fingers crossed for us both for the future x

Hi,

What treatment you have now for pleural effusion? I have it but not treatment yet.

Please let me know. Thank you.

I had it drained in 2 goes as they only like to take up to 4 or 5 litres in one go. This was a year ago and it hasn’t come back 🤞even though I’ve never got rid of the cancer. The chemo and now Avastin have probably kept it at bay. I felt so much better once it was drained! Good luck with everything. X
