Hello, I'm new here and will try to be brief but wonder if anyone can advise me.
I had a US scan last week as my ca125 result was 91. The radiographer was unable to perform a transvaginal scan though as trying to insert the probe was so very very painful for me. She attempted several times and I even tried myself, but it was far too sore. When I wiped after there was a little blood for a day or too and I did still feel soreness.
Will this cause difficulties in investigations? The radiographer did say she couldn't see any mass on the ovaries.
I expect my GP will be in touch with what the results.
Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks

There are inflammations that can cause the CA125 to rise so it may not be OC. However, an US which is not trans-vaginal can (in my early days did) miss a mass. I do suggest that you ask for a CT scan.
Thanks for your response Irisisme much appreciated. I read ca125 can give false positives but hadn't considered an infection being a cause. Have to see what the GP suggests bearing in mind my other symptoms. I may be back to ask more questions though 🙂
I had previously had trans vaginal US scans which showed several masses. These were monitored for a year but as they hadn’t changed were left. A few years later I had symptoms. Trans vaginal was too painful. I had a standard abdominal US followed by CT with contrast. My advice is push for CT with contrast.
One of my first symptoms (which was explained away at the time) was a painful smear test. Pain and bleeding on attempted transvaginal scan is not normal and you should definitely push for a CT and/or MRI scan to find out what is going on.
Try not to worry but definitely pursue it. The transvaginal sound is far more accurate than an abdominal one. Go for the CT scan because you won't stop worrying until you get some answers
I also could not have a transvaginal US. My GP (at the time) didn't bother with any other follow ups so by the time I had a CT (at my urging) 7 months later!!!! I was at stage 3. Turned out that I also had a vaginal cyst which was sorted during my peritonectomy.
I'm not saying that it could be oc for you but please insist on a CT to be sure.
