Hi, we received the results of my mums recent scan last week and it showed that she has lesions on both of her lungs and her liver. They are numerous and all around 1cm in size. It was a shock although not unexpected as her CA125 had been rising over the last 6 months. She is due to start the same regime of chemo carbo/taxol as she had after her debulking surgery in December 21. Her oncologist also said she can have Niraparib following the chemo. Mum is currently feeling well with no symptoms other than her rising CA125.
I’m so worried about what lies ahead for my mum, does anyone who has had a similar recurrence have any advice or had a positive outcome following their 2nd line of chemo? Mum was diagnosed at stage 4 with HGSOC BRCA Negative in October 2021.
Thank you

Hi. I had a recurrence eight months after frontline. It was in my pelvic area. I had carbo caelyx for six months. It didn’t completely get rid of the cancer but then I went on Olaparib for three years and I am still ned. It’s now four years since that recurrence. Hopefully she will get back to ned. Try not to worry! Xx
What a worrying time for you, I’m sorry you’ve both received this news.
It’s very encouraging that they are offering her Niraparib.
Her story sounds very similar to mine (bar lung mets). I had mets on liver and diaphragm and all over abdomen. I had large and radical surgery. Then chemo. Then a Parp. That was 6 years ago. So don’t give up hope. We are all different and she might well pull through this. Exercising and a good diet will take her far.
