I hope you all are doing well and as always I would like to thank everyone in this group for their great continued support throughout the years. To recap - my mom was diagnosed in 2018 - debunking, chemo - second lot of chemo in 2021 and avastin up until 2022 - now she just had a successful surgery and having her third lot of chemo. I really want her to get a parp the doctor said she doest’t qualify. Are any ladies here on a parp and hrd positive? Please share! Thank you as always.
Best,
A worried daughter

Started Nirapabib but a number of issues with bloods (which doesn't seem to unusual) probably initial dose was to high for her body weight, so she was never really on the medication for sustained period.
Subsequently titrated down to 100mg for past month or so and at last scan 2 lymph nodes have actually reduced in size and oncologist considers cancer stable.
We hope this continues as she continues on the parp.
I'm not sure. (Ladies will advise😁) some oncologists delay prescribing parp until later in treatment rather than immediately after end of chemo perhaps worth asking oncologist their rationale for not prescribing at this time ?
Does she have a homologous recombination deficiency mutation? This can be BRCA or others eg RAD51s. The mutation can just be in the tumour or in the germline ( all cells)? Hope she gets to take it if it is going to be efficacious.
I am HRD positive but the testing took so long that I missed the cut off date for a PARP (in 2022). I think it was too long after my kast chemo, but I did have Avastin. My Oncologist did say it wasn"t a bad thing as we have it in hand for after recurrence though. I think it was Niraparib.
Unsure why your Mum wouldn't be eligible, unless rules have changed in the last year? The Ovacome helpline may be able to help on thst?
Just a thought why dont you ask for a second opinion different eyes different attitudes . Some times l think this can be a very big advantage. It certainly been that way for me your mums a very lucky girl having you as a daugther to support her. Keep doing what your doing. Love & hugs SheilaFxxx
you don’t say what stage she was. This is important as it was only available to stage 3 and 4. Also, every country has different guidelines. Where do you live?
Yes I am stage 4 hgsc c and HRD positive and I'm on lynpraza was 600mg but now 400mg a day along side my avatin. Its after 1st line treatment though so that maybe the difference 🤔 but worth asking again xxx
hi. I am HRD positive and was prescribed Olaparib at the end of my treatment. I was told it is most effective drug if you are HRD positive. Could you ask your oncologist why this isn’t an option ? Wishing you all the best x
