Tomorrow will be consilium of doctore who will think what to do with my mom as she is with tube in nose and only drink and all what she drink come out to pocket. cT scsn show progress after 1 doxil, and progress in part where she has problem. Doctors need to think about surgery but who knows will they agree with this obstruction is from cancer and bowel is with mts? And if they will not agree to make surgery what will be? They will send her to die? She dont have any pain, just she cant eat and drink… can they leave her like that??

this is exactly my mum at the moment too. Currently in hospital with a bowel obstruction. They are hoping it clears but she has pallative care coming round tomorrow to discuss the plan if it doesn’t clear. It’s just awful and I’m so worried so I know how you’re feeling. No help but you are not alone. Cancer sucks!

Hi,

I'm so sorry you and your mum are having such a worrying time. It's so difficult to know what options there might be from a distance.

You did say in your previous post that the blockage might be at the pylorus. If this is the case then sometimes a stent can be very helpful. This is an expanding metal tube that can be put in by xray doctors or sometimes by an endoscopist. It doesn't need an operation. It might be worth asking if this has been considered.

Its reassuring that your Mum's doctors are putting their heads together. This can be a good way to get lots of different opinions from different specialties. I'm sending hopes and wishes that something positive comes out of it. X

Would it help to write down any questions you have or things you don't understand so that when you see the doctors and / or CNS nurse you don't forget or get overwhelmed?

Sending you big hugs x

I’m so sorry to hear about your Mum. I am currently in hospital with the same issues. I’m not vomiting and I don’t have the nose tube. I have partial blockages which get blocked every now and again. I’m on no food right now but I am able to tolerate clear fluids.

If you wait and your mum rests her bowel for a while, they can give steroids which may bring down the inflammation. They can put her on TNP food (food fed intravenously) for a while until her bowel has settled down and might unblock then she can start eating again.

Don’t worry, I’m sure she will see better days. Best of luck to you.

Allison x
