I have a concern with my ca -125, post op

My ca-125 started out 536, then thru chemo dropped to 219, then 56. Had surgery only dropped to 50. Back on chemo dropped to 19, 3 weeks later and finishing up chemo, only dropped to 15? Has anyone else had a slow decline? I'm done with chemo and having a scan done Monday. I'm a little concerned. Thank you for your help..

hi you are doing really well and that drop to 15 is fabulous. I always was between 12 and 20 never went lower. Keep positive and get strong xx

This is a great response, but you may find that it will drop further,as I remember mine did x

thank you, made me feel more calm. Going to discuss maintenance drug for after chemo this week. Kind of anxious about side affects. You ladies rock! Thank you for your concerns and advice!

that’s a good number mine has fluctuated between 10 and 14 since my end of treatment in 2017. Best wishes for the future x

Thank you, I am happy they haven't gone up. Happy for you too! Stay strong!

Don’t forget that surgery can lead to inflammation and that’s likely to stop your ca125 falling, I think it’s best to look at the overall drop and not the week by week variations.

However it came about, your levels have fallen brilliantly, so I would be happy 😊 xx

Thank you, yes that makes sense. I guess I was looking for dramatic decrease, but sure am happy it's not going up!

It sounds like you’re doing great! My CA125 is not a marker for me. It was 8 at diagnosis but went up to 20 after surgery. That’s the highest it’s ever been, so I wouldn’t worry.

The doctor did inform me that it could rise up after surgery. So not to be concerned at all. It should drop back down. Mine hasn't gone up so very thankful for that. Thank you.

Scan will tell all but your marker is well within normal range

Hi Jacquiemoo

I know it’s difficult but if I was you, I wouldn’t be concerned. Your CA125 has dropped considerably and will continue to be monitored. Mine went up after surgery as I got an infection.

As others have said it is well within the normal range and may not be a good marker for you. Try to focus on the positives; it has gone down significantly and you have got through chemo and surgery. That’s a lot for your body and mind to cope with. Be kind to yourself and time to recover.

thank you, you are right. I guess I’m nervous for my scan tomorrow. Thinking positive that it’s all gone. We will find out on Wednesday. Sure would love to get on with a normal life as I know we all do..thank you again for the encouraging words.

Hi Jacquiemoo, my CA125 has never gone lower than 19, always fluctuates from 19 to mid twenties when in remission. You are doing really well, keep positive and best of luck with scan, Mags xx

Nothing to add except maybe some additional reassurance. CA125 can rise after surgery or any minimally invasive procedure that causes any inflammation. Yours is well within normal range, and you're doing great! Don't worry, it doesn't help, but it does take the joy out of today!

Surgery causes CA125 to go up. I found after surgery and more chemos mine continued to go down.

Hi jacquiemoo, my CA125 was, over 100 after my op and chemo and avistan Now I'm on Tamoxifen for maintenance and my number fluctuates but like the other ladies say inflammation causes it to spike up and down. I've had my scan recently and my marker has come down slightly and I'm feeling well even though my number is 361, which is high compared to a lot of ladies on here. I'm on watch and wait but I'm not going to waste my time worrying, what's the point? Best to just enjoy your life while you're feeling well! 💖 😉 Xxx.

Hiya, I was diagnosed with stage 1A endometrioid OC at the beginning of 2021 and have been in remission since frontline treatment (about 2 years). My CA-125 was in the 50s at diagnosis and actually rose after surgery (due to the inflammation associated with abdominal trauma), then dropped to normal range, I think after my second chemo. It kept dropping with each test and now sits in the high teens/low 20s (my most recent CA-125 was 19, which is the lowest it’s been).

CA-125 is a fairly individual-specific marker and if it’s in normal range, it doesn’t really matter if it’s in single or double digits, so long as it’s not increasing over time.

Hi I was diagnosed stage 1a endometrioid OC in 2018. I've been NED since then and my ca 125 fluctuates between 10 and 16. It's currently 13. It was just over 1000 at diagnosis.
