I will go into further detail at a later date. What you ever heard of a frozen abdomen?

Debunking surgery was supposed to be preformed but was not attempted because of this.

I reside in the US.

Hi. Sorry I have never heard of this. Are you being treated at a major cancer center? I recommend getting a second opinion from one. Xx

Have you had previous abdominal surgery? As I think this is when you have too much scar tissue built up, making surgery too difficult to perform.

Hi,

Sometimes ovarian cancer can almost be like a hard layer of glue over the inside of the abdomen. This is called a frozen abdomen. Normally bowels are a bit like a nest of snakes inside, and if you have to remove a bit, then the 2 ends can be fairly easily brought together, or the whole lot can be pushed aside to get at the uterus and ovaries for example.

In a frozen abdomen the bowels are held fairly rigidly in place and can't be moved without causing lots of damage which is then almost impossible to repair. Often chemotherapy will be very helpful at dissolving / melting much of the tumour and 'unfreezing' the abdomen so that surgery is possible. This is why it's not uncommon for ladies with later stage OC to have chemo before surgery.

Hope this helps x
