Hi just wanted to ask for some advice and guidance please.

I am 52 years old, About 6 months ago I had a few transvaginal ultrasounds requested by my GP due to intermittent bleeding. I had been on HRT for a few years starting with (femoston) and last year changed to a different HRT, Patches and estrogen however I had constant bleeding for about 3 months so then stopped all HRT.

My first USS showed a right adnexal clear cyst measuring 2.5x1.7cm so then had a further USS 8 weeks for follow up.

The second USS showed persistent right ovarian cyst with development of fine septum inside with slight increase in size 2.5x2.4cm.

It also showed development of the left ovary has a thin wall anechoic cyst measuring 3.8x2.7cm previously not present. My CA125 was 10.

I have been referred to Gynae

I have noticed bloating but was unsure as was putting this down to the menopause. I have gained weight especially around my waist but again was putting this down to the menopause. Also recently I have a persistent gnawing feeling in my abdomen.

I have a further ultrasound this week to see if cysts have disappeared. I am slightly concerned about the cysts and the feeling in my stomach. Also recent blood tests showed slightly raised WCC and CRP.

Many thanks

Hi. You are getting appropriate attention but don’t stop until they rule out cancer either by surgical removal of the cysts, ovaries, and tubes (best option) or a PET scan. Don’t let it go. The low CA125 doesn’t mean anything. Mine was 8 at diagnosis of stage 3b HGSOC. It was 6 at first recurrence. I hope it’s nothing. Xx

Hi, many thanks for the support. I have had these cysts since beginning of this year. I have been told they are just functional cysts. I wish you well x

Hello mitch1, if you feel 'hearing yourself talk and ask questions' rather than write, try phoning the Ovacome freephone helpline 0800 008 7054; their experience and abilities to listen and support as you guide yourself through the uncertaintities over treatment and decisions maybe helpful. Keep exploring, lass. Take care. xx
