If ask again! If it’s estrogen fed why would they give you more to feed it? I had BC in 2005 and was ‘marginal estrogen fed’ and they wouldn’t let me have it. If it was me I’d be asking them to explain and ask lots of questions x
Mine was also oestrogen fuelled probably due to being on Hrt for 15yrs instead of the recommended 5 years, oh if I could only turn back the clock. I am now looking at diets with low oestrogen but I am 68 so I suppose it depends on your age 🤔Research & think seriously if feeling more youthful is really worth it ! Hugs Dee x
The decision to start HRT is very much an individual one, that depends on a range of personal and medical factors. We have an information booklet about surgical menopause which can be found here: ovacome.org.uk/surgical-men.... This has a specific section titled ‘Can I use HRT?’ which I hope may be of interest to you at this time. This page also contains a recording of a webinar hosted by Ovacome in June 2020 with menopause expert Dr Louise Newson. Dr Newson speaks about managing menopause with HRT for people who have had ovarian cancer so I hope this may also be relevant for you.
In addition, Ovacome hosted a talk with Kathy Abernathy who is a menopause specialist nurse, titled ‘managing menopause without HRT’. This webinar wasn't recorded but please do let us know if you would like a transcript from this talk.
I can see that some members of the forum community have suggested getting a second opinion about this and I wondered whether you have had the opportunity to speak to a menopause specialist regarding your query? They may be able to provide expert information and advice, considering your own individual circumstances and medical history.
I hope this is useful. We are here to support you so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or if there is any additional information we can investigate for you. You can reply to us directly through this forum, email us via support@ovacome.org.uk or call our support line on 0800 008 7054. We’re here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm, to talk through questions, provide information resources or just to have a friendly chat.
Both my oncologist and a menopause consultant has told me its OK for me to have it.
Just slightly confused why it seems that most ladies aren't allowed it.
I am 42 now so I know young for menopause and the doctor said I will suffer other health issues later in life if I don't take it so now I'm stuck worrying that its not good if I have it and not good if I don't!
I'm back to see them next week so will query it then !
Thank you for your reply. It's good to hear that you have spoken with a menopause consultant about your individual circumstances.
I wanted to let you know that we also facilitate an under 45s support group that I thought may be of interest to you. This is a friendly and safe space to connect with others who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at an earlier age, ask questions and share information. If you would like to learn more about this, please visit: ovacome.org.uk/event/under-... . You would be really welcome to join us.
I hope the appointment with your clinical team goes smoothly next week. Please do let us know if there's anything we might be able to help with.
