Hi Leianne,

I've had a bone scan (dexa scan) and it's the easiest scan in the world! You literally lie on a bed and the machine measures the density of certain bones and compares the results to the 'normal' density based on your age. It takes about 20mins and isn't invasive (no needles, special drinks etc).

Thank you I'd Neva heard of it before today

I have 2 young kids - it was nice to lie down for a bit 😂

definitely a big thumbs up for the Dexa Scan (by far the nicest)- keep your clothes on, no canulas, warm room, quiet, quick... I think i was so enthusiastic the nurse thought I was a bit odd!!!

I take daily tablets of HRT, very low dose of oestrogen only. I found taking them in the morning much better than evening and the doseage was luckily right for me straight away...

best wishes SX

Hi Leianne, Can I ask why hrt patches are recommended and the advantages.

I was on hrt patches for quite a few years before I was diagnosed with high range 3 ovarian cancer, I had no problems at the time. Thank you Leianne just interested in the advantages.

Beat wishes Lorraine xx

it will usually only be recommended for younger women who have had an early surgical menopause as a consequence of surgery and whose tumour is not oestrogen driven.

It may be required when fertility sparing surgery has been possible.

There can in the longer term be increased risks of oesteoporosis and cardiac issues and HRT can be protective. Its a balance between potential benefit and risk- tends to be very specific to the individual's circumstances and consultants are quite cautious to prescribe. Sx

Thank you Sunfleury..Lorraine xx

I was put on oestrogen only HRT after surgery as, eight years post menopause, I still had hot flushes and night sweats. Oestrogen only HRT has risk for womb cancer but obviously no problem after hysterectomy 😊 My cancer is not hormone sensitive. No more sweating at night, bliss. Unfortunately I have recently had to come off it after two years because of high blood pressure (not caused by the HRT but now it is regarded as a risk).

My surgeon was great and had conversations with the Prof at The Christie who agreed HRT was ok for me as soon as I was up and walking around, I was 40 when had the big op in 2012 so have taken it since... Best wishes, Sx

I think that's what there putting me on oestrogen only, they had to order it in so I'm not totally sure until I pick my prescription up. I wasn't to bad, but my symptoms are getting worse :(.

I had 2 bone scans, both done while I was having hormone therapy for OC. Like others I found it very easy, with no cannulae, dyes of any jind etc. Di
