Please don't worry l lost all mine with a combo of taxol & Carbo but it soon all came back once ld finished. I couldn't wear headscarves or anything really because my heads like a golf course with previous brain surgery l'd had. So l went for the wigs and actually loved wearing them got different styles long & short. My husband thought it was great l was ready before him. It goes quick & comes back quick thank goodness. Love & hugs SheilaFxxx

Hi I buy mine from amazon. I don't like wigs due to itching and menoapause hot flushes so I end up just wearing the hats paired off with a headscarf just when I go out of the house. Much prefer to be free when I'm home . Prices on amazon are also fantastic. I've just bought 5 for 25 pounds. One Tieing type and 4 set of the Mop ones. Still git from prev but just going through reoccourance so second line chemo coming up so just getting prepared

Hello Ritabon, I get mine from Etsy, there are lots of sellers on there with some really nice headscarves and beanies at a reasonable price. (I've just finished chemo and am definitely not rocking the baby fluff look (!) so will probably buy a couple more summery ones now to wear until my hair is a bit thicker!)

Hope you find some nice ones

I got some lovely bamboo hats/turbans from simply wigs site in the headwear dept, mine are masumi brand. They look good and are super comfy to wear..not the cheapest on market but they do look good!

I second Masumi for headwear, I've been pleased with all my hats. And I got my wig from Simply Wigs, you can purchase online and they take returns so you can try on at home and you can claim an NHS discount.

My next treatment will be weekly taxol and would like to ask how you are managing. I bought some turban style head covering and a bakers cap from Amazon, very comfy to wear and had a lovely wig think the company were called Simply Wigs. Will check this out and headgear on Amazon and see if I can post. All very reasonably priced. Lost my hair but grew back quickly with the usual chemo curls, I loved it but curls gone so going to have body perm next week as hopefully get another three to four months before having weekly taxol.

Hi, sorry to hear about your fight and hair loss.I'm fighting ovarian cancer stage IV since 2015, I'm currently on olaparib and doing OK.

When I was diagnosed i lost my job. When I lost my hair I couldn't find anything that would suit me. Decided to open online shop providing head wear to ladies who fight cancer.

Please have a look at my website and I hope you will find something for you. You can also read My Story and road through the cancer. I wish you lots of strength and optimism and step by step you will get to better days and recovery.

All the best

Ask the clinicians if your are entitled to a wig on the NHS . My cancer unit referred me to Raoul wigs. I chose mine on a zoom call last year and I absolutely love it. My grandchildren don’t know I have lost my hair and my friends think it looks very realistic. I also bought a different wig from Shepperton wigs but I haven’t worn it much because I prefer the NHS one. However, I did buy my favourite turban from them that I wear round the house. You just have to find your own look that you feel happy with.

Hi Ritabon, some people look amazing in turbans, I’ve never been a hat person so I went down the wig route. I wear a bamboo cap underneath mine and have no itching or discomfort. I have one from a local wig shop, the ladies are lovely and I could try them all on until I was happy. They are pricey, £300+. A good runner up is an NHS wig, again you can try on, £72 when I got mine last year but no charge if you’re in receipt of benefits. I wear both. They have made going out bearable and I actually feel able to face the world. It’s been 7 months since my chemo finished and I just about have what you could call a hairstyle, not ready for the general public yet, but getting there. Best of luck. We can get through this. X

Can I ask where you got the bamboo cap, and if its under a wig, does that mean the wig moves around?

My cap is from HairWorld and I got it via the NHS brochure. I can’t remember how much it was, under £10. No my wig doesn’t move at all.

Forgot to say, don’t use a cap that’s like a pop sock. Tight and not soft and comfy like the bamboo one. X

I have a wig which i bought locally but I don’t wear very much because it itches. I have also bought many turbans and use the website ‘Simply Wigs’. I have bought the brands Christina and Masumi and said before they have bamboo in them and are very soft and comfortable.

I recommend Simply Wigs and Trendco websites. You need two, so you can have one in the wash. When I had breast cancer 20 years ago, I had a professional wig hairdresser who Advised me she would wash and style it once every 6 weeks, not the once a week the companies advise. I do it myself every 6 weeks. Probably makes it last longer. I have just decided to treat my wigs like fashion items and change which Ichoose to wear according to mood. Have blonde and just got med brown with White fringe. Waiting for hot chilli rooted mix (reds) to arrive! Talking to a friend with great cancer wig, she said “I think I will go on wearing wigs even when my hair comes back”. Me too! Emma

Hi, Ritabon. I have many plain berets in many colors. I have berets long before OC, sometimes, I will even pop one on top of a short wig and just let the bangs (fringe of hair on forehead) peek out from beneath the beret. Most neighbor wig stores have them for $6-8 so very reasonably priced. All the best to you. Sashay

I have found “Hats for Heads” to be a very good site. I have a lovely wig provided by the hospital, but I like wearing hats around the house.

I also brought hats for my mum from Hats4Heads, they are great.

Hi Ritabon, I bought a hat/headscarf from Focuscare on Amazon, it’s really pretty and lightweight with a long scarf attached which can be worn different ways. I also have a few bamboo plain beanie type hats from Deresina also on Amazon, they’re actually sleep caps but so comfy that I also wear them out during the day! I do also have an NHS wig which is really good quality but I’ve only worn a few times out for special occasions as I prefer the scarf/hats as I find them more comfortable.

Hi Ritabon, I finished weekly taxol 3 months ago. I got some cotton beanies off ebay, and if you fancy a wig for a more dressed up look Valentines Wigs have great offers. Take care and all the best Sue xx

My first wig was revolting as the wig lady cut a fringe into it but the second place I went to, I hit a very good wig - matches my eyes well and fairly glamourous even though I say it myself! New technology apparently so I can wash and style and next time I wash it, it retains the style I gave it. I also have a gorgeous pale pink bamboo hat with looks v cute on esp paired with a dress with pale pink spots on. I’m not going to lose my style dye to this monstrous affliction!

hiya - I found proper wigs too itchy, but what worked really well were real hair fringe wigs , which are attached to a band you put around your head, then cover with a scarf. The fringes come a bit longer, so you can get them cut to suit your face. Much, much better value than wigs and no itch or hot head. If you google" chemotherapy real hair fringe wigs", you should get some results. It's important that the hair is real because synthetic is more itchy and looks more fake. I'm not sure im allowed to recommend a company here, but if you DM me I can (if this isn't allowed then apologies in advance)

Everyone else has mentioned different companies, so I think its fine if you add the name of your supplier - I'd like to know for myself anyway. Thanks

Amazon is good. It depends of your age and taste really. I hate turban style so i went for neutral looking scarves and wig was a savior ))
